The NAIL-ing List: Neil Alexander's News & Happenings from the world of NAIL
Welcome to the December 2016 issue of
The NAILing List Neil Alexander's Performances, Workshops and other bits...
Wow - it's December already? Holy Mackerel! What year it's been.... in a lot of ways, and on a lot of fronts. 2016 has been the good, the bad AND the ugly. But as Winter settles in, we are reminded that it is only our collective effort that insures our mutual survival. We literally need to get along - and help each other - to get through. And I know we can, and we will.
This month I'm excited to be re-introducing my annual Winter Solstice Celebration & Canned Food Drive, this year at the lovelyRitz Theater in Newburgh, and we'll be collecting food donations for the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. In addition to that Mr Gone returns to the Turning Point on December 9th for another yearly tradition of sorts;the Thunderhead Organ Trio returns to the Wherehouse, and more. Here's what's up in December:
Mr Gone returns to the fabulous Turning Point in Piermont NY for our big year end show, where we once again bring you the magic of one of the world's greatest electric Jazz groups - Weather Report - plus tasty musical morsels from Herbie Hancock'sHeadhunters. The band here is Peter Furlan (Saxes), Ratzo Harris (Bass), Terry Silverlight (Drums) and yours truly (Neil Alexander) on keyboards. $20 at the door or online.

Our 3rd Thursday Thing continues. Nadav Z, Joe G and I will be blasting off around 8 pm for our usual tour around the outer reaches of the solar system. Help us kick 2016 out the door and partake of the fine food & drink at the Wherehouse while having your mind blown by the sounds. :) No cover!
The Neil Alexander & NAIL Winter Solstice Concert & Canned Food Drive returns! After a several year hiatus we are returning to our traditional Winter Solstice Concert. We will be celebrating this most ancient of holidays with an evening of live music at the Safe Harbors Lobby at the Ritz on Saturday December 17th at 7:30 pm. NAIL features Brian Mooney (bass), with Todd Isler (drums & percussion) and my old friend Premik Russel Tubbs on reeds and Lap steel. We'll also be featuring some special guests including trombonist Joe Gil and poet Mona Toscano. Tickets are$15, or $10 with the donation of 3 nonperishable food items for theFood Bank Of The Hudson Valley, whom we've worked before on these events.I hope you'll join us in the tradition of calling for the sun's return, and support our community.
