Aleah Long & En Full Circle Summer Solstice Celebration
MoMA Cafe 3588 Main St. Stone Ridge, NY 12484
Once again I will join Aleah Long & En Full Circle, HawksBrother Hawkspirit, and Nada Khodlova for an evening of song, trance dance, and joyful ceremony to ignite the passion of life and celebrate the Summer Solstice.
Aleah Long’s music has been touted as New Age soul music, infused with Afro-AmerIndian intentionality and intuitive lyrics to an eclectic style of worldbeat, funk, chanting, and spoken word. The ensemble includes singers Moose Alexander, Tory Trujillo, and Yaniyah Obatecumselah, with percussionists Chef Jeff “Avinash” Barnes and Raphael Figueroa, myself and many others. It all happens in a “come to mama” environment with homemade food and beverages, time for socializing, dancing (lead by Nada), and an outdoor fire ceremony. Children are welcome. For more information call 845 401-5636

'Thunderhead Organ Trio'
The Bean Runner
111 South Division St. Peekskill NY
$10 at the Door
Hold on to your seats! Veteran musicians Joe Gil (trombone), Neil Alexander (organ and keyboards) and Jason Furman (drums) have put together a new group called the "Thunderhead Organ Trio". The group is taking the concept of the organ trio in a new and different direction, drawing on many different influences and styles. The group explores the grittier, rockier side of the genre referencing groups like the original Tony Williams Lifetime and mines the jazz standard repertoire for obscure gems and deep cuts.
The group will be playing original tunes, jazz standards, lost classics and rare gems. Come early! Great food, fine wine, great music. $10 Admission. For reservations, call 914-737-1701.
Enjoy the Weather - get outside and support live music!
