The NAIL-ing List: Neil Alexander's News & Happenings from the world of NAIL
Welcome to the November 2016 issue of
The NAILing List
Neil Alexander's Performances, Workshops and other bits...
November is here! It's turning cold... Heading toward winter. October's "landmark" (for me) concert at theRitz Theaterin Newburgh was a big success! My heartfelt thanks go out to all the wonderful musicians, the local press and the venue for making the whole experience a delight. But forward we go! November's chock full of delightful goings on, like Cloudburst this Friday night in Kingston, gigs with Brian Kastan & Eric Hill, live music for the Newburgh Open Movement project, and of course the Thunderhead Organ Trio, Wired Wednesdays and more. Here's what's up in November:
Friday November 4th 7:30 pm
Neil Alexander/Mike Colletti/Tony Parker
Alley Cat Jazz & Blues
294 Wall Street Kingston NY
Cloudburst brings their funky groove jazz-fusion vibe to the Alley Cat, the smokin' new club in Kingston. I hear the food's great and the vibe's even better. $5.00 cover.
Saturday November 12th 7:30pm
Brain Kastan Quartet
The Exposure Gallery 1357 Kings Highway, Sugar Loaf, NY 10981
I'll be playing with Brian Kastan and his group which includes y old friends Steve Rust & Peter O'Brien. He's promoting his new CD "Roll the Dice on Life". I've got it around here somewhere...
Once again, I'll be hosting the Wired Wednesday Workshop series at the Newburgh Free Library. Always the 3rd Wednesday of each month, and always free. This month's topic will be.... well, I don't know yet, but a FB Event will be posted and my Website will be updated when I have the info. You can also follow the Ableton HV Users Group on twitter at @abletonhv. Stay tuned.
Thursday November 17th 8:00 pm
119 Liberty Street Newburgh NY
Our 3rd Thursday Thing continues. Nadav Z, Joe G and I will be blasting off around 8 pm for our usual tour around the outer reaches of the solar system. Come out and partake of the fine food & drink at the Wherehouse while having your mind blown by the sounds. :) No cover!
Saturday November 19th 9 pm
Eric Hill Band
Pawling Tavern 42 Charles Coleman Blvd. Pawling NY
Eric Hill's songs come from his incredible wealth of personal experience, with sensitivity and heart and an edge of the blues. I might even bust out the Lap Steel for this gig. No cover.
Newburgh Open Movement happening on the last Saturday of the month (11/26) at the beautiful Safe Harbors Lobby at the Ritz, is a time and space for people of all walks of life to come together and enjoy three hours of playful dancing and mindful movement. The first hour of the event is a guided warm-up and dance improvisation workshop led by Ophra Wolf of Force & Flow, followed by free and open jamming (i.e. time for you to move or observe as you please) starting at 3 PM and featuring live musical accompaniment by myself. I'll be joined by ambient instrumentalist Craig Chin. Kids of all ages are welcome to the jam portion with adult supervision, the workshop at the start is suitable for adults and teenagers. $5 suggested donation for the jam, $15 for the workshop -- *NO ONE WILL BE TURNED AWAY FOR LACK OF FUNDS* Before or after the jam, stick around for a number of other great events as part of Newburgh Last Saturdays.
Join Mad Mike and I as we slip 'n' slide our way down Memory Lane, covering nearly 30 years years of Music & Life, talking about everything from our first band "Solid Juice", to the Adaptors Movement Theater and the tracks which finally appeared on his last CD "Mad As Ever" after sitting in the vault for 25+ years! This is gonna be fun!
