Clergy at Rest - Together
The Clergy of the Diocese gathered with Bishop Lawrence at the White Oak Conference Center for a three-day retreat, November 9-11. The Bishop's addresses focused on the characteristics of new testament churches and what we can learn from them about parish ministry today. Essential to the time together was the small group interaction and fellowship. As the 50+ clergy reflected on each of the Bishop's addresses, it afforded a much welcomed opportunity to not only unpack together what we were learning, but to also work on our relationships with one another. At the conclusion, the consensus was that this needs to be an annual event.
I was a Stranger and You Welcomed Me New Home for the Seafarers Ministry
Each year more than 65,000 seafarers from over 50 countries visit the Charleston Port. When asked about the greatest hardship for a seafarer the response is consistent across all nationalities: loniliness. A smiling face and a helping hand make all the difference. That's just what the Charleston Port & Seafareres Society offers. Their new home was dedicated today at noon by Bishop Lawrence. Learn more. View their Youtube video.
