10th Anniversary of September 11
We asked churches around the Diocese to honor first responders on this the 10th Anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
The Rev. Michael Wright, Rector of
Grace Church, Charleston, has written a hymn to commemorate the event. Grace will be holding a special Choral Evensong at 5 p.m. that evening. They will also remember the anniversary during their Sunday morning services.

Holy Trinity, Charleston, is hosting a breakfast for members of the police force, fire departments, emergency medical services and military prior to their Sunday worship service.
Dedication of Old St. Andrew's Playground Equipment
On September 11, Bishop Skilton will be at Old St. Andrew’s, Charleston to lead worship and bless the new playground equipment. The full cost of $25,000 was raised in-house in less than five months. The design by Wakefield Construction, which did the playground at Good Shepherd, utilizes the theme of St. Andrew the fisherman and will have a blue sail with the white Cross of St. Andrew on it. The Rev. Marshall Huey, Rector, says, “We hope it will be a blessing for our congregation and our parish area.”

August 31: Institution of a New Rector
Join in the celebration of a new ministry on August 31 at 6:30 p.m. when the Rev. Ted Duvall will become the Rector of Christ Church, Mt. Pleasant.
September 10: DOK Fall Assembly
The Diocesan Daughters of the King will gather September 10 at St. Paul's, Summerville, for their annual Fall Assembly. The Rev. James Barnhill, Rector of St. Paul's, Bennettsville, is the spiritual leader for this gathering and will lead mediations on loving ourselves. Registration is at 9 a.m. Learn more.
September 30-October 2: Be Still and Know God

October 13: LAMB Party with a Purpose
LAMB will be hosting their 2nd annual "Party with a Purpose" fundraiser, Thursday, October 13, at 7 p.m. at Founders Hall at Charlestown Landing in Charleston. The event will provide an opportunity to hear about the ministry in Tegucigalpa, Honduras from founder and director Suzy McCall. Businesses and individuals are needed as sponsors. Learn more. November 13: St. Stephen's 175th Anniversary
St. Stephens, Charleston, will hold a service honoring their 175th Anniversary on Anson Street with a Rededication service at 11 a.m. Participants will be rededicating their ongoing ministries in the name of Jesus.
November 14-16: Clergy Conference
The Rt. Rev. Michael Nazir-Ali will be the guest speaker at the upcoming Clergy Conference to be held at St. Christopher. Online registration will open soon. Additional details to follow.
January 19-20: Mere Anglicanism
Mere Anglicanism will be held at St. Philip's, Charleston. The theme is "The Once and Future Church." Registration will be online starting September 1, and further details will be available at www.mereanglicanism.com.
February 24-26: The Men’s Conference
The Men's Conference will be held at St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center. The guest speaker is Robert Noland, author of The Knight’s Code.
March 2-4: The Women’s Retreat
The Women's Retreat, sponsored by the ECW Diocesan Board will be held March 2-4 at St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center.

Congratulations to the Rev. Michael Hub and his wife Callie at the birth of their granddaughter Ann Caroline Reeder. She was born on August 10 weighing 8 lb, 10 oz. Ann is the daughter of Caroline (the Hub’s daughter) and Craig Reeder.
