Bishop Lawrence's Annual Visitation schedule has just been released. In order to allow time for the Bishop Coadjutor’s selection, election and consecration, the calendar has been extended through the first of March 2022. (In the photo above the Bishop visits St. John's, Florence).

Each year at this time, the clergy and other leaders of the Diocese are invited to provide suggestions to the Nominating Committee for those positions to be filled at the upcoming Diocesan Convention, which, this year, is scheduled for  March 12-13, 2021. We hope you will give prayerful consideration to those God may be calling to serve the Diocese.

To help in your discernment, before you submit a suggested nominee, we ask you to read the attached letter from the Nominating Committee Chairman, the Rev. Karl Burns; read through the list of positions to be filled (along with their descriptions); view the list of who is currently or has recently served then submit your nomination using the online form, by the deadline of December 10. To help in preparation of your nominee’s bio, view examples from last year’s nominations report.

Advent Retreat December 4-6

THIS is the year to attend the Advent Retreat. Come away and rest in Jesus, reflect on Scripture, be renewed in creation, soak in silence, pray in community, and receive healing and strength at the end of a long year and the beginning of a new season. Come for the whole weekend, come for Saturday only, or come overnight on Friday or Saturday.

Fill an Inmate's Stocking This Year

There are 1100 inmates at Lieber Correctional Institute in Ridgeville.  They have had no visitation at all from their families for eight months as they have been locked down due to Covid 19.  The inmates have to rely on family and volunteers to provide them personal hygiene items and they are desperately in need of these items.

Church Loves on College Students

Last week the Church of the Cross, Bluffton, sent care packages to every college student associated with their church. Their Youth Pastor designated a part of his budget to this effort and one family took on the task of putting together the 33 boxes consisting of gift cards, snacks, candy, and notes. Way to go, church!

A Drive Through Feeding the Multitude November 30

Thirty churches on Johns & Wadmalaw Islands, will be participating in the 13th Annual Feeding of the Multitude hosted by St. John’s, Johns Island from 12-3 p.m. on November 21. It will be a drive-through event this year providing food for more than 800 families. Most will receive “grab and go” bags of ingredients for an uncooked Thanksgiving meal, but cooked meals will be available too. Church of Our Saviour will be participating as well. 

Job Opening at Old St. Andrew's, Charleston

Old St. Andrew’s, in the West Ashley area of Charleston, seeks a Director of Children’s Education to begin January 1, 2021.  The position will be part-time and will focus on children’s Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and other periodic children’s and family events throughout the year.  The position will grow into a dual role with our new preschool, planned to open in August 2022.  Interested applicants should send a resume and email to

Sacrament of Encounter Retreat, December 6-12

The Prayer Center at St. Christopher is sponsoring this online retreat in conjunction with La Ferme, Retreat Center for L’Arche, Troly, France. During the retreat we will look at encounters in the Bible, in the life of Jesus and in our own lives; at how meeting one another is the path towards transformation, asking the Lord to show us where in our life He is asking us to encounter Him today. You Can Go to the PGA Championship....

St. Christopher has four “Wanamaker Club” tickets for the 2021 PGA Championship to be hosted on Kiawah Island.  These four premier ticket packages will be paired with the use of the Historic Bishop’s Cottage and offered in a drawing for contributions of $1000.  The value of this package is $10,000.  The drawing is planned for December 1st, and will not be offered to any more than 100 entries.  Learn more

Over a hundred nativity scenes will again fill the schoolhouse building at Christ the King Grace Church during our second annual Nativity Festival December 7 – 12, 2020. The community is invited to attend the free festival from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 5 – 8 p.m. each day. To reserve a spot visit Face masks are required.

New: Advent Concert, December 11, St. Michael's Church, Charleston
St. Michael's, Charleston, presents "The Angels Sing," a choral service for Advent and Christmas, on Friday, December 11, at 7:30 pm in the church. Professional singers from across Charleston join together under the direction of St. Michael's Director of Music, Dr. Chris Keenan, to perform a wide variety of music for the season, ranging from The Renaissance to the 21st century. Seating will be limited, and masks will be required for attendance. The event will also be live-streamed. Learn more.

The Book of Proverbs counsels us, “Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life.” The retreat will be held Friday, February 5, 2021 (beginning with dinner at 6:00pm) and conclude on Sunday, February 7, with Holy Communion (before lunch) here at St. Christopher Camp & Conference Center. Danielle LindstromDanielle Lindstrom recently accepted a call to serve as the Director of Children’s Ministry at St. Michael’s Church, Charleston. Danielle was born and raised in Charleston and has a strong legacy of faith in the Baptist and AME traditions. She's recently been serving as the Director of Children's Ministry at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Lake Mary, FL. She has a bachelors degree in Religious Studies from the College of Charleston and both a Masters of Theological Studies and a Masters of Divinity from Columbia International University.  She and her husband Justin have a baby daughter. "Children's ministry has been a passion of mine ever since I was a little girl," says Danielle. "I love to implement innovative ways to inspire children to be excited about their faith." Watch the church's introduction video.
