The first International Forum on Urban Policy for the SDGs in Seoul

The International Forum on Urban Policy for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) organized by Seoul Metropolitan Government, CityNet, and UNESCAP from June 8th-10th in Seoul, will discuss the role of cities in the implementation of the SDGs and share experiences in sustainable urban development through focused discussions on selected targets under the Urban SDG (Goal 11) and other goals and targets relevant to urban issues.

Workshop on Inclusive Economies in Cities in Southeast Asia

The regional workshop was part of the Asia Development Dialogue, an annual regional forum of multistakeholders with the primary purpose of strengthening dialogue and better understanding on key regional issues. Disaster Cluster Seminar and Survey

The 9th CityNet Disaster Cluster Seminar will be taking place in Taipei over three days beginning on September 22nd. The seminars include sessions and site visits related to Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM). The seminar will have four thematic areas focused on disaster medicine, disaster preparedness, disaster reduction and disaster recovery. Invitations will be sent on June 6th along with a survey on DRRM.  More>>

CityNet Yokohama Project Office Environment Fund Grant Contest
CityNet Yokohama Project office will be holding a contest for innovative environmental projects focused on solid waste management; one project will be chosen from the applicants to receive the CYO Environment Fund Grant. The contest is open to all members including associate members. Details will be announced in early June.    More>>

Evacuation Management Unit members meet to discuss evacuation procedures
Two meetings were held on April 11th and 20th by the Assistant Department Head and Focal Person of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) to discuss their evacuation management experiences in managing evacuations during disasters with the Social Welfare Officers (SWO) III, Department of Education of the Philippines (DepEd), and the Community Based Adaptation and Resilience Against Disasters (CBARAD) pilot barangays in Iloilo.  
CBARAD - II Project Orientation for 50 barangays in Iloilo, Philippines
A meeting of the Community Based Risk Assessment (CBRA) Facilitators was conducted as part of the CBARAD - II Project in Iloilo, Philippines on April 27th. The 2016 DRRM Funds of the City included an allocation of funds for the conduct of the CRBA for 50 barangays in three batches. At least 15 barangays will be chosen every quarter starting in April 2016.   More>>

CYO welcomes a new intern
Ms. Sophia Mayen will be a part of CYO for the next four months. She originally comes from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and is studying Geography with a concentration in Geomatics at UVic. She was a member and president of the international development association at her university, which focused largely on south eastern Africa.
