Environmental education through innovative technologies

Moderated by Prof. Sang Bum Kim, former Vice Mayor of Seoul, CityNet's session on Environmental Education in the Wired Age that was geared towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was held in Hanoi on 3rd March. "How can local governments make cities inclusive and sustainable with the use of innovative technologies?" was one of the questions addressed during this session.

CityNet Secretariat calls for CityNet Services Package applications
CityNet Services is a package of services that CityNet members can access with the goal of coming closer to solutions to their specific urban development challenge. The services range from technical assistance, study visits, city-to-city cooperation, to consultation tailored to the applicant's needs.  

Call for National Chapters project proposals 2016
CityNet National Chapter Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka have released the call for small-scale project proposals. Submit your project proposal to your National Chapter Leader by April 1st and National Chapter Leaders are required to submit the selected proposal to the CityNet Secretariat by April 15, 2016. Green Technologies for Urban Development
Environmental efficiency in buildings allows energy savings for the advanced urbanization. Partnering with the Urban Land Institute and Korea Green Building Council, CityNet invites its members to learn about Green Technologies for Urban Development, and to meet some of the leading companies in energy efficiency in buildings in Seoul, South Korea on April 15. Call for cities for ISO 37120 certification
CityNet and the World City Council Data (WCCD) are implementing a joint program that will help accredit CityNet members and their local data systems become ISO certified. The ISO 37120 Certification, a pioneering global standard for city indicators, provides a comprehensive list of 100 indicators that enables cities to measure and compare their social, economic, and environmental performance in relation to other cities around the world.  More>>

3rd South Asian Cities Summit 2016 in New Delhi

Sidoarjo Regency's visit to Seoul
Sidoarjo representatives, consisting of the Chairman of Sidoarjo Council, Head of Public Works Department, Head of Road Maintenance Division and Head of Cooperation Affairs, visited CityNet Secretariat on 7th March. During this visit they had a chance to briefly learn about Seoul's water treatment system and meet the EcoMobility Team, Transportation Policy Division of Suwon City.  
30th KLRTC Workshop on Delivering Affordable Housing in Asia
The 30th KLRTC Workshop was held from March 9-11, 2016 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The main objective of this workshop is to reflect and build on different experiences from of housing policy in the Asia Pacific Region to find ways to improve the housing policies in the participants' cities.  More>>
CityNet welcomes the new Assistant Secretary General
New CityNet Assistant Secretary General, Mr. Byeonghan Yi, has been appointed to replace the former ASG, Mr Hunjai Chung, who has been assigned to a training program within Seoul Metropolitan Government. CBARAD Mid-Term Evaluation concludes with concrete action plans

As CBARAD-II project enters its final year, a Mid-Term Evaluation was conducted in February and March to finalise the remaining action plans to fulfill the objectives of the project outlined in the Project Design Matrix (PDM). Most of the activities being conducted were on track with only a minor edits.  More>>

Students from YCU College of Nursing undergo field trip to Iloilo
From March 2nd-7th, four professors from Yokohama City University's College of Nursing went for study visits in Iloilo to observe the City Health Office and to learn about the community health activities of nurses in the Philippines. The experience allowed the students to understand the similarities and differences of the healthcare system in Japan and the Philippines.   More>>

CityNet Youth Japan visits Iloilo for a Study Visit
In collaboration with Central Philippine University (CPU), eight students from CYJ held a discussion to exchange information and opinions on the urban issues in both countries. Presentations on topics such as employment and happiness were shared among the students.  
CPU hosts KABALAKA Camp with Japanese students
As a part of CBARAD-II, Component-III activity to enhance collaboration among the educational institution and the local government to enhance disaster risk reduction, Central Philippine University hosted a disaster prevention education and awareness program locally named KABALAKA Camp.   More>>
Yokohama conducts training on Structural and Seismic Engineering
Yokohama hosted the first training on 'Structural and Seismic Engineering Training' for the engineers from Kathmandu as a follow-up activity to help Kathmandu proceed with its reconstruction efforts.
