Joint mission from Seoul and Yokohama dispatched to Nepal

A joint mission composed of technical experts from Seoul Metropolitan Government and the City of Yokohama was dispatched to Nepal from July 27th - August 1st to assess and discuss potential project activities which may include structural improvements or constructions and capacity building with a number of local engineers.

URAIA calls for projects
The Uraía platform seeks to support innovation in local public management by increasing efficiency and transparency thanks to the use of SMART technologies. Uraía will support the start-up of two initiatives led by Platform partners. For this first edition of the Call for Projects, a specific focus will be given to the creation of new mobile-based apps to be used by citizens directly through their Smartphones or other internet-based platforms.

Localised Public Transportation Workshop held in Da Nang
CityNet and the Korean Transport Institute (KOTI) successfully delivered a localised public transportation workshop in collaboration with the Da Nang’s People Committee as the host. This workshop covered topics including expanding Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and Developing a Public Transport System. 

Communique on Safer Cities for the Asia Pacific Region
UN-Habitat, Seoul Metropolitan Government and CityNet are jointly tackle urban crime and make Asian cities safer. Together they have compiled a communique to summarize their efforts to improve urban safety in the Asian Pacific Region. The document is an outcome of UN-Habitat Programmes Director Dr. Alioune Badiane’s visit to Seoul last June.

Expert Group Meeting on Regional Perspectives
CityNet Director of Programs Youngmin Chang had a reunion with CityNet alumni, Ms Bernadia Irawati Tjandradewi and Ms Mariko Sato, during the Partners Workshop: Strengthening Partnerships for Sustainable Urban Development in Asia Pacific organized by UN-Habitat and the Expert Group Meeting on “Regional Perspectives on a Transformative Urban Agenda for Asia and the Pacific” organized by UNESCAP in Bangkok.    

Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 published
The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 was adopted by UN Member States on 18 March 2015 at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. The Sendai Framework is the first major agreement of the post-2015 development agenda, with seven targets and four priorities for action.  
Future of Cities Forum by World Future Council Foundation
The 5th Future of Cities Forum will be held on September 14th-15th as a special event associated to China International Eco-City Forum & Expo in Tianjin where high-level experts from China and around the world gather to discuss regenerative city development in the context of the new global agendas – the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Habitat III.  

EcoMobility World Festival 2015
Building on the success of the world’s first EcoMobility World Festival in September 2013, the City of Johannesburg is continuing the month-long presentation of an innovative urban transportation culture. The third EcoMobility Congress will take place in Johannesburg in the new format of EcoMobility Dialogues from 5-9 October 2015.   

Building Leaders in Urban Transport Planning (LUTP)
Korea Transport Institute and the World Bank jointly host the 4th LUTP from October 11th-17th to equip urban transport leaders. This workshop aims at developing leadership capabilities in urban mobility planning. It seeks to create awareness of what integrated mobility planning involves, what are its different components and how it needs to be undertaken. 
Future of Cities Forum by World Future Council Foundation
From city authorities, infrastructure, central government, system integrators, and specialist technology providers: their shared focus is to make Future Cities a reality by collaborating to align their people, processes and technology.

City of Yokohama will host the 8th CityNet Disaster Cluster Seminar from September 3-6, 2015 for the members of CityNet Disaster Cluster. CBARAD – II Updates
In June 2015, Components 1, 2 & 3 continued their activities towards meeting CBARAD II’s project goals. Component 1 had several outputs including passing an amended ordinance on the reorganization of the CDRRMC, component 2 and 3 both met to review their outputs from the PDM Workshop.    More>>
