New 40 point checklist sets the standard for carbon offsetting
The Quality Assurance Scheme (QAS) for carbon offsetting was set up by the UK government to bring certainty and confidence to carbon offset purchasers and companies seeking to 'go carbon neutral'.
Carbon Footprint Ltd was one of the first companies to receive approval for its carbon calculator and carbon offsets under the scheme. Now re-launched as as the Quality Assurance Standard, QAS implements a 40 point checklist to assure quality of approved companies’ carbon offsetting.
QAS is now ran as an independent (not for profit) organisation focused on assuring best practice in carbon offsetting.
As an approved Company, Carbon Footprint Ltd complies with the 40 point checklist which covers aspects such as emissions factors, calculation methodologies, project methodologies, registry retiral, radiative forcing index, use of Defra Green Claims Guidance, pricing and other company checks.
As part of QAS requirements, our carbon offsetting is independently audited, to bring to clients the strongest assurance of the quality and rigour of our carbon offsetting. Together with the use of Publicly Available Specification (PAS) 2060 - the definition for carbon neutrality - we are able to provide the most robust way for organisations to become carbon neutral.
