Mandatory Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting
from 30 September 2013
This Summer, new legislation was passed that makes reporting of GHG emissions a mandatory requirement for many companies.
If your organisation is a UK registered entity that is traded on the London Stock Exchange (or a UK registered entity whose shares are traded on other exchanges, e.g. European, NYSE or NASDAQ), you will be required to report your carbon footprint as part of your Annual Report.
-
Businesses whose reporting years ending on or after 30 September 2013 will need to report their previous 12 month's emissions - i.e. if your reporting year ends 30 Sept 13, you must reports the GHG emissions for the full year 1 October 2012-30 September 2013
-
You will need to report at least on your organisation's scope 1 and scope 2 emissions of all GHGs (i.e. not just on carbon dioxide generated from burning fuels and electricity use)
-
You will need to include GHGs from all operations within your entity, including your overseas operations
-
Mandatory GHG reporting may be an additional form of reporting that you need to do (e.g. it is additional to the Carbon Reduction Commitment, CRC, and Climate Change Agreements, CCAs)
Carbon Footprint Ltd provides full support including reporting ready GHG Assessments and GHG Verifications. We also provide Carbon Management Planning to help assure that you organisation drives down emissions and cost and meets legislative requirements.
