The Environment Agency's second annual Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Performance League Table has just been published. 3000 business's carbon performance have been assessed for this second year of disclosure, which has seen some dramatic changes of position in the table.   

Carbon Footprint Ltd congratulate all our clients who have climbed the League table. This is the last year that the current performance table format will be used.  From next year, we expect that the league table will be replaced with a simple list of company results, with some possibility that carbon intensity factors will also be given to enable comparison of results between companies of different sizes (and within different industry sectors).
We hope that the CRC developments will make it easier to compare carbon efficiency of different businesses.

All businesses in the CRC will additionally continue to pay carbon tax, which is currently set at £12 per tonne carbon dioxide.
The forecast allowance price is £16 per tonne for 2014-15. From 2015-16 onwards, the allowance price will increase in line with the RPI.

Key Dates to watch

• Annual CRC report submission is due by the last working day in July 2013
• Surrender of annual allowances is also due by the last working day in July 2013 
• Registration for Phase 2 of the CRC is between 1 April -30 Sept 2013
