RECAP...25/07 Seeds of Peace: Rotary Initative

Hi everyone,

Thanks to all of you who were able to join us last Tuesday night!  It was a really insightful night. We were enlightened by our guest speaker Adrian Campbell (a member of the Rotary Club of Camberwell)  who talked to us about an amazing peace project that he coordinated for students. The project was later published as a book of pictures and essays written by the lucky students who went to Turkey for the 100th commemoration of ANZAC in 2015. Additionally, it is always a pleasure to be joined by Murray Verso, who was District Governor when this project took light. He was a strong supporter of the project and touched on the inspiring journey with the students to Turkey.

We also hand presented our club's first club-nominated Paul Harris Fellow to Dr Aron Perenyi (who was overseas at Changeover), and Brad Sleurink was presented with his PHF+2 pin for his ongoing support to the Rotary Foundation - thank you Brad!

Yesterday, we had our first Passion Project for the year supporting National Tree Day by spending a few hours planting some trees in Kingslake West.  The event was organised by a local Landcare group and in a few hours we had planted 115 trees and shrubs. Thank you to Azu, Katherine, Thomas, Jess, Ned and Kyle for joining me for my Passion Project yesterday.

See you tomorrow night!

Best regards,
Jacinta Walker
