As state law requires, the City Council has tentatively adopted a tentative budget for the first six months of 2017. A public hearing will be held on January 9, 2017 to consider adopting the budget. A copy of the tentative budget is available here and also at the City offices at 3932 South 500 East, Millcreek, UT. Note that the revenue side is conservative and anticipates that early revenues will be paid to Salt Lake County. The County is working on a breakdown of Millcreek-specific expenses. Much of what we can plan for depends on the actual date we may exit the MSD and what we may contract back with the County. We expect a number of budget amendments during the first year as we actually collect our revenues and determine Millcreek-specific expenses.
Transfer of Sales Tax to Millcreek
At a recent meeting, the City Council adopted the same 1% local option sales tax that the County currently collects. This is the tax from which the County has been funding services, and from which Millcreek will fund services. The City’s adoption of the tax is not a tax increase, but merely a mechanism to shift the funds from the County to the City.
2300 East Roundabout is Open
On Tuesday, December 20 at 2:00 p.m., the opening of the 2300 East Roundabout was celebrated. Thank you to Salt Lake County, the Wasatch Front Regional Council, UDOT, and all the local businesses and residents who endured construction. Check out this video tutorial on how to drive the Roundabout, and be careful out there.
