We Couldn't Wait Until Next Week to Email!

We normally send our newsletters the week before our general meeting, but we have so much going on that we wanted to send this newsletter a week earlier than usual.

Please read the adjoining column for events that may interest or affect you. Pay close attention to the Ontario Gun Show: We will be helping to staff a booth outside the entrance to collect signatures for three key petitions that could become game-changers in 2014:

  • The first enshrines our Second Amendment rights in the California Constitution. It also prohibits punitive laws and taxes punishing gun ownership.
  • The second requires voters to show photo ID when voting. This measure would significantly reduce voter fraud in California. Polling shows even Democrats support this ballot measure.
  • The third would award California's 55 Electoral College votes by congressional district v. winner-take-all. That means presidential candidates would have to campaign in California instead of treating the Golden State as one big, fat ATM. Maine and Nebraska already award their Electoral College votes by congressional district.
We are pledging to collect at least 2,014 signatures for each petition. (For you non-math majors, that's at least 6,042 signatures.) Please bring your completed petitions to our next meeting.

Next week, we will not be holding our weekly canvassing. Instead, we are urging members to help us collect petitions. If you are interested, please contact Ly at:

Instead, if you want to canvass for Mike Morrell or Marc Steinorth, two candidates whom we support, please see their March 1 item in the adjoining column. They will be launching their big Get Out The Vote, or "GOTV," that Saturday.

Speaking of Mike Morrell: We urge you to vote for him in the special election on March 25. Absentee ballots will be mailed soon. We are looking at a 9-15 percent turnout; that means, if we turn out our voters, Mike could win state Senate 23 outright on that day. (Special elections, unlike state and congressional elections, can be won outright with 50 percent plus 1 on election day.)

More good news: The Redlands City Council retreated last week, after being pressured by citizens, when they tabled a vote on a needless ballot measure that would raise taxes by $350 per household for flood control and other spending -- and even more depending on the value of your property. They ran from the vote because they knew the measure would be slaughtered at the polls -- an epiphany they wouldn't have imagined if it weren't for the people who spoke up against the nonsense.

The Redlands Tea Party Patriots strongly opposed this latest proposed tax increase with some of our patriot members speaking at the city council meeting and sending a letter to council detailing the enormous tax burden Californians already bear and how imprudently the government spends our money.  Please see the letter at You may have to cut and past that link into your browser.

We are joking -- sometimes -- when we refer to the Redlands City Council as the "Redlands Communist Council." The members definitely showed their leftist bent last week while running away from the tax measure they wanted. But, like the leftists they are, they vowed to put that measure back on the ballot after we are all "properly educated" on flood issues. So, despite a wide-ranging group of speakers telling the council face-to-face that the measure was unnecessary, expensive, and ill-conceived, most of our council members implied that we weren't smart enough, like them, to realize that we needed another tax increase. So good work patriots! However, the city's long-term forecast now calls for a 100 percent chance of more tax increases with intermittent brain washing.

Now, about our general meeting on March 6...

We will have at least eight state and congressional candidates on stage that night. Each candidate will have opening and closing statements as well as being subjected to Q&A. All three Republican candidates for Congressional District 31 -- Lesli Gooch, John Valdivia, Paul Chabot -- have confirmed that they are coming. This is going to be fun! Come early if you want to talk with the candidates. The "meet and greet" starts at 6 p.m.

Our April 3 meeting is awesome! Two members of the national Tea Party Patriots will fly from the East Coast to Southern California just to talk to our membership! They will be discussing a lot of the news and information originating from the national Tea Party Patriots conference in Washington, D.C., in late February. Part of their visit will be devoted to boosting area Tea Party Patriot chapters -- so if you're thinking of starting one, or you need some help growing your chapter, then this meeting is for you!

The national coordinators are paying their own way, so we can "repay" them by going to and registering. By signing up, you will have access to members-only information as well as resources ranging from training seminars and videos to the ObamaCare toolkit and talking points. Please enroll and consider sending $25 -- the amount that gets you a membership card with your name so you can brag about how you are a "card-carrying member" of the Tea Party Patriots! (And imagine the joy on liberal faces when you flash that!)

Update on AB 1266, the co-ed bathroom law: The final count should be released Monday. We expect the result to be close. We are confident, and we are praying, that it will qualify for the ballot. If it falls short, we will be members of a team that will assist Privacy for All Students reviewing each rejected signature in several California counties. Please do not believe the media when they claim the vote count is final. The media have made numerous errors while reporting on this story, so we don't expect them to start getting this story right on Monday.
