A White, White Day (2019) // Hlynur Pálmason

Head of Cinema Operations: Colin

"Hvitur, Hvitur Dagur is a claustrophobic drama set in Iceland. Ingvar Eggert Sigurdsson is as magic as ever as a father and grandfather who loses his wife. Through his grief he begins to learn of relationships by his own, which had been previously hidden from him. It's tense and terse, with a towering lead performance and a thankfully rehabilitative ending."

Monsoon (2019) // Hong Khaou

Culture Aberdeen: Daniel

"Monsoon is a really lovely, sincere film that slowly sweeps you in - about identity and connection. With Henry Golding as a British Vietnamese man returning to Vietnam and travelling the country to find a resting place for his late mother’s ashes, Kit forges new, healing relationships, both with the country itself and the people he meets along the way.”

Life, Animated (2016) // Roger Ross Williams

Education Recommends

To mark World Autism Awareness Week, the Education team recommends Life, Animated, a thoughtful documentary which shows how films can help us communicate.

When toddler Owen stopped speaking aged three, he gradually reconnected with his family and the world by using the language of his beloved Disney films.
