Key Insights from PATAmPOWER

Southeast Asia Saw a Mixed Result of Air Passengers Traffic from Oceania During 3Q2015

Indonesia received a timely boost with an increase in volume of air passengers from Oceania during 3Q2015, recording year-on-year growth of 2.8 percent, while Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand witnessed decreases in air passengers traffic from Oceania during the same period. Although with a smaller traffic volume, traffic from Oceania to Philippines saw the strongest surge of 13.2 percent during the quarter, mainly driven by the launch of non-stop no frills services from Sydney to Manila operated by Cebu Pacific.

Meet the PATA Canada Chapter

Picture: Newly Elected PATA Canada Board and Executive Director

The PATA Canada Chapter launched on April 22nd, 2015 with 27 Founding Members representing Airlines, Tourist Boards and Tour Operators from across the country, an outstanding show of support for an organisation that’s been dormant in the Canadian market for almost 10 years.

With a renewed energy they set about electing a Board from among the Founding Members.

Their Executive team are all active members of the travel trade in Canada and are highly vested in making the Chapter a success.

Together they have built upon a strong starting foundation of over 400 Supplier and Retail
members across the country in just eight months. Their focus is to promote the Asia Pacific region to the travel trade in Canada from coast to coast.

PATA Canada Chapter's
Quiz Nights are highly successful in engaging the retail travel trade with their Supplier Members. To date they have had Quiz Nights in Vancouver and Winnipeg, with a third Quiz Night planned for Toronto on November 24th.

Future events will include a combination of live and virtual events, including live webinars featuring the various treasures and attractions of Asia Pacific with resident guest speakers.

Their website is a very popular reference tool for the trade for Asia Pacific Suppliers based in North America.

They are also planning a PATA Canada Chapter Travel Mart in Toronto in April 2016, targeting 200 agent attendees. The Chapter is excited at the possibilities and the support of the Supplier Members to showcase the best of PATA. Their full-day programme will include half a day of break-out educational sessions followed by a Market Place.

PATA Canada Chapter has a rosy future indeed.
