PATA ATM 2015: Half a Billion International Visitor Arrivals and Still Growing Strong

 

According to the just released ‘PATA Annual Tourism Monitor 2015 (Early Edition)’, Asia captured 73% of those arrivals, followed by the Americas with a 23% share and the Pacific with the remaining four percent. Of the 44 Asia Pacific destinations covered in the report, two-thirds (30) had foreign inbound volumes in excess of one million for the year with 12 of that number exceeding 10 million.

Key Insights from PATAmPOWER

Strong Growth of International Visitor Arrivals into Northeast Asia Continued during 1Q2015
 

Northeast Asia reported a solid year-on-year growth of 5.6% in 1Q2015, boosted largely by strong demand in travels into Japan in both numeric (+1.29 million additional arrivals) and percentage (+43.7%) increases. Korea (ROK) seconded the growth chart (+12.5%). China and Hong Kong SAR, which together take up more than 50% of the region’s total arrivals volume, also saw solid growth of 4.0% and 4.9% respectively. On an opposite note, Macau SAR registered negative growth (-3.6%) during 1Q2015.

This year the plane continues its path on “Future of Tourism” where participants will explore the opportunities to what tourism will be able to offer in 30 years. It is themed “Paint the Future: Envisioning Tourism in 30 Years”. 30 years ago, having a touch-screen mobile seems impossible and same goes with accessing to the internet almost everywhere you go. News Update from Shangri~La Hotel & Resort, Nepal

Hotel was providing food & accommodation for media and rescue mission from Japan, Australia, New Zealand, European Commission, India & Taiwan. Hotel has recently undergone retrofitting and up-gradation in public areas and rooms. The entire hotel and casino complex is safe and has no damage. There has been no casualties in the hotel. We have also received the certification from the Government after the safety assessment post earthquake. Both our hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara are fully operational. Read more
