The latest PATAcademy-HCD in Bangkok attracted 18 rising stars from 13 public and private organisations coming from seven destinations. Dr Mario Hardy, CEO, PATA said, “According to our latest visitor forecasts, arrivals from China to Asia Pacific destinations will climb from an estimated 102 million in 2015 to more than 150 million by 2020, dominating the region’s international tourism landscape. Our delegates had the opportunity to gain further insights and best practices on how to increase their market share into this highly lucrative segment.”

Pace slackens in May for international visitor arrivals to South Asia

International arrivals statistics for May 2016 show that Sri Lanka (10.1%) and India (3.5%) recorded their lowest growth figures so far this year when compared with the same month in 2015. The Maldives witnessed negative arrivals growth (-2.3%) in May for the first time this year – reflecting the drop in numbers of visitors from China.
