Strong growth predicted for scheduled seat capacity from Asia to Cambodia in 2018


 
The total scheduled inbound seat capacity from Asia to Cambodia in 2018 is expected to grow by 30.9 percent compared to last year to reach some 7.8 million seats, with seat capacity from Southeast Asia comprising slightly more than half. Northeast Asia is likely to report significant year-on-year growth of 63.4 percent, accounting for 47 percent share, while West Asia is also predicted to see impressive growth of 42.6 percent.

Green Fins International Year of the Reef 2018 Campaign
 
The Reef-World Foundation, UK based NGO and international coordinators of the UN Environment’s Green Fins initiative, launches the Green Fins International Year of the Reef 2018 Campaign. The social media campaign aims to make sustainable diving practices the social norm, by promoting pragmatic solutions to key local threats identified through years of work with the dive industry; and encouraging other stakeholders, like equipment manufacturers, to take action to reduce the pressures on coral reefs. Supporting tourism development in Africa through better measurement

In an effort to better measure tourism growth and development in Africa, UNWTO signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation for the Strengthening of the National Tourism Statistical System of Nigeria and the Development of a Tourism Satellite Account. Read more.
Virtual door opens for sustainable hotels and destinations
 
EarthCheck has announced a partnership with the Green Travel Index (GTI), a B2B database for sustainable certified service providers in travel and tourism. GTI’s hotel mapping and profiling will open a virtual door to more than 4,300 travel agents who will be able to access EarthCheck Certified, EarthCheck Evaluate, EarthCheck Sustainable Destinations and EarthCheck Design Members.
