Condolences to People Affected by the Recent Natural Disaster

PATA would like to send its deepest condolences to all the people affected by the recent natural disasters that have occurred in Bangladesh, Mariana Islands, Myanmar, Saipan and Vietnam. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones affected by the recent events, and we hope that all friends and colleagues in the travel and tourism industry are doing their part to help those in need. The rise in the occurrences of natural disasters only highlights the need for our industry to focus on tackling the issue of climate change.

Mixed Picture of International Visitor Arrivals to Northeast Asia Continued During 2Q2015

China and Japan continued to receive strong visitor arrivals volume during 2Q2015 with additional 1.85 million and 1.62 million arrivals respectively. Meanwhile Korea (ROK) reported a year-on-year drop (-7.75%) during the same period due to the MERS outbreak in June. So, too, did Macau SAR (-3.28%) with arrivals slowing down from its main source market of China.

PATA UK Chapter Elects New Chairman For 2015-16
 

At their Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday 14th July, the PATA UK Chapter re-elected their members of the Board, with Chairman Chris Lee stepping down after serving a four year term. Danielle Genty-Nott of Tourism New Zealand was voted unanimously by PATA members as Lee’s successor. Read More

On July 16, members of the PATA Chiang Rai Chapter enjoyed a preview of the kind hospitality Dusit Island Resort puts on when it hosts travel events.

Dusit Island Resort is a contender to host he PATA Adventure Travel Mart in Chiang Rai February 17-10 next year, and if the chapter’s cocktail reception, last week, was anything to go by, the hotel stands an excellent chance of hosting the prestigious event.
