Quarterly Tourism Monitor – 4Q2014 Is Now Available

Key Highlights QTM 4Q2014:
- Northeast Asia led the growth (+8.4%) in Asia.
- Japan reported the highest growth (+39.6%) in the region while China, the largest destination in the region in terms of international visitor arrivals (IVAs), grew least (+2.6%) weighing down the overall region growth.

Scheduled Air Seat Capacity from West Asia to the Pacific on a Rise While Growth from Other Sub-regions Stalls


Scheduled air seat capacity from Asia to the Pacific is expected to grow 1.6% year-on-year in 2015. Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia, collectively with an 80% contribution of total seat capacity to the Pacific, are estimated to grow marginally in 2015. Scheduled seat capacity from West Asia recorded a year-on-year solid growth of 8.2% in 2014 and it is expected to outperform their peers in 2015 with an increase of 6.9%.

Two in five Asia-Pacific Travellers will Increase their Travel Budget in 2015; the Region’s Hotel Sector Riding High on Optimism
TripAdvisorTM today announced the results of the TripBarometer1 study, the world’s largest accommodation and traveller survey¹. Conducted on behalf of TripAdvisor by independent research firm Ipsos, the TripBarometer study is the analysis of more than 44,000 global responses from travellers and the hotel sector, with 9,283 respondents from the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The TripBarometer ‘Global Travel Economy’ report reveals worldwide travel trends at country, region and global levels, highlighting year-on-year changes in consumer spending plans and trip planning, as well as hotelier confidence. Results.
