PATA backs new Mountain Tourism initiative

 

PATA UPDATES
PATA has become a founder member of the new International Mountain Tourism Alliance. The IMTA was launched formally in Xingyi city, Guizhou province, China on September 21st at a ceremony attended by PATA Chief of Staff Dale Lawrence.

Former Prime Minister of France Dominique de Villepin (second left) was elected Chairman of the Alliance. Former CNTA Director Mr Shao Qiwei (second from right) was elected Vice-Chairman and former senior diplomat Mr He Yafei (right) is to serve as Secretary-General. They unveiled the Alliance's logo with Guizhou Province Vice Governor Mr Lu Yongzheng.

Destinations in Northeast Asia see strong arrivals growth in July 2016
 
For the first time this year Hong Kong SAR has reported year-on-year arrivals growth. The figures for July show an increase of 2.6 percent. Chinese Taipei and Macao SAR also saw a year-on-year growth of 1.9 percent and 5.5 percent respectively in July 2016. Japan maintained double digit arrivals year-on-year growth (19.7%) in the same month while arrivals to Korea (ROK) more than doubled compared to July 2015 when a MERS outbreak dampened demand.

UNWTO : Accessible Tourism, theme of World Tourism Day 2016


Tourism for all: people with disabilities, senior citizens and families travelling with small children, and sooner or later all citizens will appreciate the advantages of universal accessibility. BBC: Inside a former nuclear missile base


The Titan Missile Museum is a decommissioned intercontinental ballistic missile complex in Arizona, USA.

The missile complex was capable of delivering a nine-megaton nuclear warhead to targets more than 10,000km (6,200 miles) away.

Director of the museum and former crew commander in the 1980s, Yvonne Morris, tells the BBC Travel Show's Rajan Datar why it is important that people are allowed visit the site. Read More.
