NTFF 2016 speaker: Marta Mills from TransCaucasian Trail Association (TCTA)

Create a successful marketing plan for heritage trails with Marta and two other experts at NTFF 2016 on November 25th in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. She will be sharing her personal tips and tools as she leads the TCTA’s community engagement work. Marta has many years of experience in communications and stakeholder engagement, including five years at the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), working on DFID’s programmes in South Caucasus, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. She also supports the work of Equality in Tourism that facilitates gender equality in tourism and within the wider development context.

Oceania sees solid arrivals growth from Northeast and Southeast Asia
 
Destinations in Oceania continued to enjoy double digit year-on-year arrivals growth in August 2016, driven mainly by impressive numbers from Northeast and Southeast Asia. Arrivals from Northeast Asia to the region in August 2016 were almost 15 percent up on the same month on 2015, with mainland China the major source market. Arrivals from Southeast Asia to Oceania also saw solid year-on-year growth of 12 percent for the same period.

TAT: Updated visitor information during the mourning period for His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to advise the following during this time of sadness for the Thai people:

  • Most mourners in the country will be dressed in black or white clothing as a display of the reverence to our Beloved King and as part of Thai culture, but this is not mandatory, especially for visitors.
  • Tourists should kindly wear appropriate and respectable attire in public.

Wild Asia: Ten years of transformational tourism


In 2006 Wild Asia, a Malaysian social enterprise that works with the tourism industry to support operators meet and exceed global standards for sustainability, started identifying regional leaders in responsible travel. At that time, the concept of sustainable tourism was in its infancy, particularly in Asia.
