In this edition, running from June 13-15 at the PATA Engagement Hub in Bangkok, the theme will centre around the topical issue of attracting the '100+ million Chinese Outbound Travellers'.

Stable visitor arrivals growth ahead for Pacific sub-regions

International visitor arrivals to Oceania are forecast to post average annual growth rate (AAGR) of 4.2 percent between 2016 and 2020. Melanesia and Polynesia are expected to witness moderate AAGR of 2.7 percent and one percent respectively for the same period. Micronesia is currently forecast to experience average annual growth rate of 7.7 percent over the same period.

Nepal Tourism announces destination ‘open for business’ to agents, operators at sold out gala hosted by PATA New York

New York, NY, May 12, 2016 - On May 3rd, PATA New York travel agents and tour operators received updates on the recovery of Nepal’s tourism infrastructure at a gala event organized by the Consulate General of Nepal with the support of former Air India executive Andy Bhatia and joint sponsorship of the Nepal Tourism Board and Bansal Foundation along with co-sponsor SITA World Tours one year after the South Asian destination experienced significant damage and loss of life as a result of a magnitude-7.8 earthquake in April 2015. Read More.

PATA Philippines Chapter: Filipino tourist arrivals in Guam up 125% after CEB enters market

Manila, May 6, 2016 – The only low-cost carrier operating between the Philippines and Guam, Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), is encouraged by recent statistics from the Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) indicating that the Philippines is one of its fastest growing sources of visitor arrivals. Philippine visitors to Guam grew by 125% in March 2016, compared to the same month last year. This led to the second best March in Guam’s tourism history, with 133,335 visitor arrivals – just a few notches behind March 2013 with 136,728 visitors recorded. Total visitor arrivals for March 2016 rose 0.8% year-on-year. Read More.

TripAdvisor unveils China’s emerging Free Independent Traveller who increasingly shuns escorted travel in favour of spontaneous exploration

International tourism CEO, Mario Hardy, to receive honorary doctorate degree from Capilano University
