The PATA Fifth Aligned Advocacy Dinner took place on November 7 at Clothworkers’ Hall in the City of London on the first night of World Travel Market where Miss Lela Krstevska from the Government of the Republic of Macedonia’s Agency for Promotion and Support of Tourism provided the keynote speech. PATA CEO Challenge winners Southern Laos and The People’s Government of Meishan, Sichuan, China were also presented with the PATA CEO Challenge 2016 Top Destinations awards. Guests of honour included UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai.

Northern Marianas is reporting a 27.1 percent year-on-year visitor arrivals growth in 3Q2016. The significant increase can be attributed to more flights bringing visitors from Korea (ROK). Guam continues to show a steady year-on-year growth with 8.06 percent while arrivals to Palau decreased by 5.49 percent for the same period.

Urban planning and city tourism need to go hand in hand, concludes UNWTO Summit

The 5th UNWTO City Tourism Summit in Luxor, Egypt gathered around 400 experts from 40 countries to discuss the theme ‘Cities: Local culture for a global traveler’. The event, organised by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Ministry of Tourism of Egypt, concluded on the importance of ensuring urban planning and city tourism development are fully coordinated.
