1Q2016: Arrivals from China to destinations in Micronesia

Chinese tourists are now the main source market for the Northern Marianas. During 1Q2016, arrivals from China to Northern Marianas saw year-on-year growth of 26 percent. Arrivals to Palau decreased by 28.2 percent in the same period but China remains an influential source market. Chinese visitors to Guam surged by an impressive 29.4 percent year-on-year during 1Q2016.

Global Sustainable Tourism Conference — October 5-8, 2016 in Suwon, South Korea
 

GSTC’s main event in 2016 is the first Global Sustainable Tourism Conference, to be held in Suwon City, South Korea, 5-8 October, 2016. The conference features prominent speakers, updates on GSTC’s activities, themed sessions and panels.

Conference themes are: marketing sustainable tourism, urban tourism, cultural heritage destinations and sustainable MICE. Simultaneous translation to Korean and Chinese will be available. The global conference has been planned to coincide with the Suwon City Cultural Festival. Optional post-conference field trips will be offered to the demilitarised zone (DMZ), Everland Theme Park, and the Samsung Innovation Museum.
