Growth of Intercontinental Air Passengers to Asia in 3Q2015

In 3Q2015, air passenger movements from Europe to destinations throughout Asia reached 19.5 million - contributing 60 percent of the total number of arrivals to Asia from intercontinental source markets. This figure represents an increase of 970,000 over the same period in 2014. In terms of percentage growth, passengers from the Americas to Asia showed the strongest surge of 6.1 percent year-on-year while those from Africa and the Pacific region witnessed slower growth (1.8% and 2.5% respectively).

Meet PATA Bangladesh Chapter

The PATA Bangladesh Chapter is actively engaged with the Bangladesh Tourism Industry, and is focused on developing new initiatives and recommendations for the improvement of policies, supporting the upgrade of the skilled labor force, minimizing risk and unveiling pathways for the next gen of industry professionals to go push their limits.
With 33 members representing the Industry in Bangladesh, the Chapter is driving membership with the policy “One member brings one new member,” and anticipates to have 50 members by year end 2016.
The Chapter is committed to Human Capital Development (HCD) and has developed several initiatives to support young professionals. The Chapter has assisted nine students from Dhaka University to attend a 12-week long hands on training program and part-time job opportunities, assisted Dhaka University to form the only PATA Student Chapter in South Asia and regularly participates in HCD Workshops.
This year the Chapter hosted a Welcome Reception Dinner in honor of the PATA CEO’s first official visit to Bangladesh, where they also welcomed the country’s tourism leaders, ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps and other government officials. International tourist arrivals grew by 4.3% in the first eight months of 2015 according to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer, fuelled by strong results in Europe and consolidating the trend of recent years.
