In this programme, participants will experience Nang Loeng neighbourhood, where vibrant food market meets performance art.

Nestling in the heart of Bangkok, Nang Loeng’s century-old market is a food haven boasting local dishes and rare sweets from traditional recipes. It is also home to Thailand’s first wooden movie theater Sala Chaloem Thani, where legendary Thai actor Mitr Chaibancha appeared in hundreds of films between the 1950s-70s. Most importantly, Nang Loeng is one of the last strongholds of the performance arts that flourished in that era including the drama-dance ‘Lakon Chatri’, Khon classical Thai masked dance and ballroom dancing.

For centuries, humans have told stories of their past, present and future. Men, women and children would gather around the campfire sharing stories of their hunt, their adventures, their encounters and, of course, their loves.

Some stories reflected their reality, some were augmented and some were complete fiction. Over time, man had found new ways to keep a record of their tales using stones, papyrus and eventually paper. Many of those stories have survived the test of time and are still being told today. Read more.
Early results for 2016 show continued growth for international visitor arrivals into Asia Pacific


Asia Pacific destinations welcomed almost 577 million international visitors during calendar year 2015 – an increase of 24 million arrivals compared to the previous year. The figures are contained in the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Annual Tourism Monitor 2016 Final Edition.
