The Quarterly Tourism Monitor 1Q2015 Now Available

The 1Q2015 edition of the Quarterly Tourism Monitor (QTM), which provides a timely view of inbound travel by origin markets for major destinations in the Asia Pacific region, is now available. For more information on this QTM report or how to subscribe, please contact publications@PATA.org or go to PATAstore.com.

Key Highlights of the QTM 1Q2015
  • International visitor arrivals (IVAs) to 29 Asia Pacific destinations that have released first quarter 2015 data showed a combined inbound total of some 108 million with a growth rate of 5.4% over the same period last year.
  • In Asia, South Asia outperformed other sub-regions registering a 7.7% year-on-year increase, driven by remarkable gains of IVAs to Sri Lanka (+13.6%) and India (+7.2%).
  • In the Pacific, Palau continued to dominate in terms of IVAs’ growth. Owing largely to increasing services of charter flights operating to and from the SARs of Hong Kong and Macau, arrivals from China into Palau recorded once again a phenomenal growth of 486 percent, thereby ousting Japan from the number one source market.
