Fast forward to 2050
PATA is celebrating 65 amazing years of working with public and private sector organisations to promote travel to, from and within the Asia Pacific region.

We’ve asked travel industry professionals to share their visions of what tourists will be doing in 2050 as PATA prepares to celebrate its centenary.

“In 2050 we will be blogging in three dimensions about our trips to the Moon – and maybe even to Mars! I certainly want to be blogging about the first lunar voyage.” - Matt Gibson, Inbound President, Professional Travel Bloggers Association (PTBA).

Note to PATA:
“I congratulate PATA, Mario and the entire team for the 65th anniversary - a wonderful milestone that speaks about the outstanding contribution of this organisation to the travel and tourism industry.” - Gloria Guevara, former Secretary for Tourism, Mexico.

PATA CEO Blog: Reflections on Pakistan

These attacks are almost commonplace today and can happen in anybody’s backyard – from Thailand to Yemen, Egypt to Turkey, and Paris to Brussels. After each of these incidents I grieved for the affected families, friends and people of the country.

Now available: How Travel & Tourism Benefits From Peace – A Statistical Analysis of the Asian Experience

Through international visitor arrival (IVA) data and short historical perspectives the study examines how peace, democracy and ending geopolitical and ethno-cultural conflicts between and within countries can facilitate phenomenal growth in travel and tourism.

The report cites the example of 12 countries in both South Asia and Southeast Asia that have emerged from decades of colonialism and conflict in the last few decades and have begun to convert battlefields into trading/tourism fields.
