Macao SAR welcomes over 1,100 delegates
to PATA Travel Mart 2017
The 40th edition of PATA Travel Mart 2017 (PTM 2017), hosted by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), has attracted 1,131 delegates from 66 global destinations. The delegate numbers embraced 460 sellers from 252 organisations and 37 destinations, along with 293 buyers from 281 organisations and 51 source markets.

China and Japan remain top destinations for scheduled flights from Europe


 
Capacity on scheduled inbound flights to Northeast Asia from Europe is likely to increase by 6.7 percent in 2017 over 2016 with China and Japan set to continue as the top two destinations. China will take the lead with 33,422 flights this year, accounting for a 48.6 percent share of total frequencies. Although Japan is expected to see only marginal growth of 1.4 percent in 2017, it will remain in second place with an 18.5 percent share of total flights from Europe. In percentage growth terms, Mongolia is expected to outperform its neighbours with a year-on-year 12.9 percent increase.

Quarterly Tourism Monitor 2Q2017 is now available



The Quarterly Tourism Monitor (QTM) provides a timely quantitative view of inbound travel, by origin markets for all major destinations in Asia Pacific region by quarter, during calendar year 2017.

Key highlights of QTM 2Q2017:
  • International visitor arrivals (IVAs) to the 27 Asia Pacific destinations that have released second quarter 2017 data show a combined inbound total of 83.7 million with a growth rate of 6.9 percent over the same period last year
  • Japan is leading the pack in Northeast Asia with year-on-year growth of 21.1 percent. Korea (ROK) saw a significant decline in this period, reporting a 32.6 percent decrease that was driven mainly by falling visitor arrivals from China (-65.7%)
  • In Southeast Asia, Vietnam outperformed other regional peers in terms of percentage growth. The destination witnessed a significant rise of arrivals from its largest key source market, Northeast Asia, of 45.3 percent
