Democrats, poll watching is an essential function that protects voters and the voting process. A poll watcher is a volunteer who is able to be inside the voting precinct to ensure votes are being properly cast and procedures are being followed. And we need your help!
There is no specific background needed - we will provide training to all volunteers so you will be ready to support Alachua county voters and the Democratic party in maintaining a fair election process.
On early voting days and election day (Oct. 19-31 and Nov.3), poll greeters will hand out voting recommendation leaflets from Alachua County Democrats (ACDEC) -- covering the whole ballot. All greeters will be given a mask (and gloves if you want) and will do at least one 2-hour shift on campus or other nearby voting sites. Most students are grateful for this info because they can sometimes be unfamiliar with down-ballot issues and candidates.
I need hundreds of helpers...PLEASE SEND YES to firstname.lastname@example.org or TEXT YES to (352) 219-5914.

500 POLL GREETERS NEEDED
Poll Greeters stand outside polling sites and offer voters a leaflet listing the candidates and issues the Alachua County Democratic Party has endorsed or opposes. The purpose of Greeters is to educate, encourage, and enable voters to not only vote for Biden and Harris, but also to vote the entire ballot, ensuring that all of our candidates are successful and that the issues we care about are enacted or defeated.
A mask that will protect Greeters and identify them as representatives of the Alachua County Democratic Party will be provided, as will a packet containing leaflets and instructions.
Greeters will be assigned 2-hour stints at all 6 Early Voting locations from Oct. 19 through the 31st and to all precincts on Election Day, November 3rd.
If you can volunteer for one - or several - shifts, please email the following:
Robin West - email@example.com
(if you want to greet at the Reitz Union)
Margaret Boonstra - firstname.lastname@example.org
- or -
Charna Cohn - email@example.com
(if you wish to Greet at any other precinct(s))
Let them know of your preference for dates, times (morning, noon, or late afternoon), and locations, and they will get back to you to arrange your assignment(s).
Down Ballot Candidates Day of Action
On Saturday, the FDP Down Ballot Elections team held a day of action centered around Voter Education. Special guests, Congressman Darren Soto and Representative Joe Geller, shared useful information about Voting by Mail in a Voter Education Virtual Event. Democratic volunteers were able to identify supportive voters in November and learned about how to get involved in GOTV efforts with Florida candidates. The next Day of Action will be on Saturday, September 26 from 2- 5 pm ET. Sign up online at this link https://www.mobilize.us/orangecountydec/event/313466/.
