Update on Voter Registration from the Florida Democratic Party
Last week's Weekend of Action (February 15th) topped all previous voter registration efforts by FDP this cycle - with over 800 volunteers at 200+ events across the state. We collected nearly 1,000 voter registration forms during the weekend, putting us at over 1,300 registrations for the week - our first week exceeding 1,000! With still a week left in February, we have already more than doubled our January voter registrations and are on track to achieve our goal of 200,000 voter registrations by the August Primary! Despite some misleading news stories, we are out-registering Republicans in Florida.
Our next statewide Voter Registration Weekend of Action is March 13-15.

Come Join Us in the Celebrate Women 2020 Parade!
On Saturday, March 21st we are going to have a large parade commemorating milestones in the history of the women's movement here in Gainesville. We will gather and organize at the Elections Office on N. Main St starting at 11:00 a.m. EST. We will step off at noon with a line of women dressed in suffragist white, carrying the banner for the parade. Then, we'll march in chronological order back from there, including Gainesville Women for Equal Rights (GWER), and Judith Brown and the Florida Paper. Then other groups and happenings in the later 60's, and on through the 7-'s and the Gainesville Women's Health Center, Women Unlimited, WomaNews, Amelia's bookstore, NOW, Take Back the Night, SPARC, etc. and on up to the present day where we'll highlight current issues and concerns of women today. After our relatively short march, we'll end up at Bo Diddley Plaza for the Rally.
This parade will be filmed for posterity, and each contingent will carry signs identifying their group and the year(s) they were/are active, and perhaps the ideas they are supporting. So, talk about it with your group and decide how you want to portray yourselves and our history. We'll be hosting a sign-making party, open to all participants, at the United Church of Gainesville, 1624 NW 5th Ave. Cored poster-board and markers will be provided, along with light refreshments.
The upcoming sign-making party will be on Friday, March 13th from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. EST
