As of Friday morning, we have registered 4,552 voters in the first month of the year, over 1,200 more voters than we registered for the entire first half of 2019!
Remember Tuesday, February 18 is the deadline to register to vote or change parties to vote in the Presidential Preference Primary. We encourage all counties to plan Weekend of Action voter registration events for February 14-16.
Vote-By-Mail Enrollment Chase
About 150,000 vote-by-mail (VBM) enrollment forms were mailed to Democrats at the beginning of January. We need volunteers to help us contact these Democrats to encourage them to return the enrollment form. A virtual phone bank (VPB) is available at m.floridadems.org/Phonebank.
We know voting by mail is the easiest way to make sure Democrats cast a ballot in this year’s elections. Another mailer will be sent in February to those who didn't return the first mailer. To help us maximize our return, please jump on the VPB with us to encourage Florida Democrats to return their VBM enrollment forms. This is also an excellent training opportunity for volunteers as we prepare for GOTV ballot chases during the election cycles.

Schedule of Candidate Forums
Come Join Us in the Celebrate Women 2020 Parade!
On Saturday, March 21st we are going to have a large parade commemorating milestones in the history of the women's movement here in Gainesville. We will gather and organize at the Elections Office on N. Main St starting at 11:00 a.m. EST. We will step off at noon with a line of women dressed in suffragist white, carrying the banner for the parade. Then, we'll march in chronological order back from there, including Gainesville Women for Equal Rights (GWER), and Judith Brown and the Florida Paper. Then other groups and happenings in the later 60's, and on through the 7-'s and the Gainesville Women's Health Center, Women Unlimited, WomaNews, Amelia's bookstore, NOW, Take Back the Night, SPARC, etc. and on up to the present day where we'll highlight current issues and concerns of women today. After our relatively short march, we'll end up at Bo Diddley Plaza for the Rally.
This parade will be filmed for posterity, and each contingent will carry signs identifying their group and the year(s) they were/are active, and perhaps the ideas they are supporting. So, talk about it with your group and decide how you want to portray yourselves and our history. We'll be hosting the following two sign-making parties, open to all participants, at the United Church of Gainesville, 1624 NW 5th Ave. Cored poster-board and markers will be provided, along with light refreshments.
The first sign-making party will be on Friday, February 21st from 4 p.m.- 6 p.m. EST
The second sign-making party will be on Friday, March 13th from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. EST
