New Vocations 2012 Charity Horse Show
Offers Thoroughbred Only Classes Sponsored by The Jockey Club!

Attention Hunter and Dressage riders!

Mark your calendars for: July 7th & 8th, 2012

for our New Vocations Charity Horse Show

at the Delaware Co. Fairgrounds in Delaware, OH!

OHJA, KHJA and Tri-State Sanctioned

We are excited to introduce:

The Jockey Club

Thoroughbred Incentive Program classes!

“The Thoroughbred Incentive Program is a natural extension of our ongoing efforts in the Thoroughbred aftercare,” said James L. Gagliano, The Jockey Club’s President and COO. “We encourage other groups to join us as we assist with the transition of Thoroughbreds into second careers.”

The belief that the Off the Track Thoroughbreds are well suited for a second career is a sentiment that is obviously shared by New Vocations as well, so we would like to say a sincere “Thank You” to The Jockey Club for working with us to promote that idea by sponsoring The Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program classes at our horse show this year.

This is The Jockey Club’s inaugural year for the T.I.P. classes, so we hope to have a good turn out to support their efforts in celebrating the versatility of the Thoroughbred. Please help us make this a big success so we may be able to continue to offer these sponsored classes for years to come!

We will also be offering many "non breed specific" classes for both Hunters and Dressage which will be open to any attendee wishing to compete.

Below is a list of a few of our classes that will be featured this year:

New Vocations Hunter Classic - split into Thoroughbred only and non-Thoroughbred Divisions
New Vocations Hunter Stake
New Vocations Mini Medal
New Vocations Team Hunter Challenge
New Vocations War Horse in Hand & Under Saddle

Just Different
Thoroughbred Available for Adoption

Just Different - 6 yr old, 15.3hh Mare
Adoption Fee: $200
Located: Marysville, OH Facility
Contact: application@horseadoption.com

This sweet girl is looking for someone to call her own to help her transition into her new life. Different has blossomed since coming into the program. She has become much more social, enjoys attention from people and will nicker softly whenever someone passes by, and is much more self-assured.  She enjoys standing quietly in her stall and watching everything going on in the barn.  She really likes attention and face rubs from people who are calm and speak softly to her. Once she has her person to trust, she will be a very loyal friend and riding partner.

In turn out, Different plays with her pasture buddies and is definitely the leader of the group. Under saddle, she is a forward moving and forward thinking mare who likes the rider to be quiet and confident and not to ask too many things of her at one time. She is steady at the walk and trot, but still needs work at the canter as she learns to balance in the smaller arena. Outside of the arena, she will walk quietly down the drive way on a loose rein and seems to really enjoy herself. At this point in her life, Different will need at least an intermediate rider who is quiet and reassuring as this method has proven to be the way she prefers to be ridden and handled (as any mare does). She will be suitable as a dressage, hunter, pleasure or trail horse.

Different had 38 starts, placing in 21 of her races, earned $68,737 and last raced on 8-5-11. She was retired because she earned it. She is easy to handle, likes to be groomed. Different has no vices.

Just Different is by Suave Prospect out of Elegant Amy by Reason’s Hope.

V Mart Bill
Standardbred Available for Adoption

V Mart Bill - 21 yr old, 15.3hh Gelding
Adoption Fee: Waived
Located: Cream Ridge, NJ
Contact:
tmantell@kent.edu

Well mannered, handsome, sound 21 yr old trotting gelding, located in New Jersey, seeking a family he can love and serve.  (Pictures taken at age 19) This amazing war horse raced 294 times over 12 years and retired completely sound!  He’s spent the last ten years with his racetrack groom, but sadly she can no longer afford to keep him.  “V” has been babysitting weanlings at a stdb farm in NJ the past six months, but has proven a bit too domineering, so we’re looking for someone to open their heart and home to him as their personal companion and mount.   Tessa Koran, ’V’s caregiver the past ten years shares, ”V” is the type of horse who every person who has ever come in contact with him fell in love. He is the most willing and kind and loving horse. He can be shod without cross ties and won’t move a muscle and has been that way since his racing days. He has been trail ridden in the past but due to my demanding schedule hasn’t been ridden in about a year.

VMart lovessss Orange Juice. He will drink it out of the bottle, your hands, or anyway he can get it.  He also loves donuts, especially blueberry glazed. VMart is an easy keeper.  He licks his bowl clean and calls to you at feeding time to make sure you don’t forget or leave him out. VMart loves trailer rides, especially on sunny warm days when he can get his nose out. He smiles for all the cars passing by. Although he is 21, he is quite sound and eager to greet each day.   I long for VMart to have a home that will love him as much as I have.
This incredible gelding has more life experiences and wisdom than 20 normal horses.  He has $250,000 worth of training and over 10,000 miles in harness. He has the wisdom of 10 grandpas with the soundness of a young horse.  Lucky is the family that opens their heart to ‘V’.  He will love and serve them the rest of his life.

We are seeking to place V Mart Bill from Concord Stud Farm in Cream Ridge, NJ.  Inquires should go to Tessa Koran cell 216 288-1190 or email tmantell@kent.edu
An approved adopter can commit to V by calling Dot Morgan (937) 947-4020 or emailing dot@horseadoption.com and faxing a signed contract to 937 947-3201.
