New Vocations Charity Horse Show

 July 6th & 7th, 2013

Support our efforts to spotlight the athleticism, heart, and versatility of retired racehorses

The New Vocations Charity Horse Show plays an important role in our program's mission to rehab, retrain, and rehome over 400 retired racehorses each year. First, New Vocations bridges the gap between the racetrack and the show ring giving hundreds of retired racehorses the proper rehabilitation, skills, and placement within a home to ensure a successful second career. The show raises vital funds that are needed to help the program carry out our mission. There are no overhead costs so every penny raised goes directly to support our efforts. Second, the show has become a popular annual event that hundreds of equestrians mark as a must attend destination to showcase the amazing talent and potential Thoroughbreds have in a variety of disciplines beyond the track. It is an honor to be able to continue to put on such an event year after year that truly shows the fruit of our mission, which could only be accomplished by your support.

New Vocations Thoroughbred Graduate to Compete at
2013 Charity Horse Show
2007 Thoroughbred gelding "Ghost Shopper" aka Affinity was adopted in October, 2012 by Charlotte Clark, who won the Thoroughbred Hunter Classic at last year's show (pictured above).

Ghost Shopper, by multiple graded stakes winner Ghostzapper, had 15 starts at the track, placing in over half of his races and earning $87,711. He ran his last race on 8/11/12 at Mountaineer in a claiming race where he came in 6th. He was retired due to lack of competitiveness and his owners White Fox Farm donated him to New Vocations' Ohio facility so that he would have a chance at a second career beyond the track.

Since finding a wonderful home, Ghost Shopper and Charlotte have been hard at work training in Hunter/Jumpers. In recent adopter updates, Charlotte gushes over how wonderful he is to ride and very brave when faced with new obstacles. " Ghost has been making great progress. He has already been to two horse shows and successfully competed in the Baby Green Hunters," Charlotte shares.

Both Charlotte and Ghost Shopper will be competing at this year's New Vocations Charity Horse Show along with several other New Vocations' Graduates. The staff at New Vocations look forward to seeing how far our retired racehorses have come in their second careers!
