Quick Shooter
Now Available For Adoption!

Quick Shooter - 5 yr old, 16hh gelding
Adoption Fee: $400
Located: Marysville, OH

What an absolute sweetheart! No one can pass by this adorable gelding with his beautiful face and soft eye, without fawning all over him. He is always more than happy to soak up all the attention and love people want to give to him too. On top of his good looks, he is such a kind soul, making him completely irresistible!

Shooter has a happy outlook on life and seems to enjoy his job and is respectful under saddle. He is still green in that he will look around as he is being worked, but that will change with time and schooling. Shooter has an easy way of going and his muscular hind end enables him to travel lightly and forward. The more time off the track he has, the more sweep he should develop through the shoulder and hindquarters. He will be more than capable of any type of flat work and possible recreational jumping. Shooter is currently going to turn out with 2 other geldings and is very kind to his turn out buddies. He has no vices.

Shooter had 17 starts, placed in 7 of them and earned $82,794 at the mid level tracks. He last raced 9-9-11 and was retired due to lack of competitiveness.

Quick Shooter is by Red Bullet (Unbridled) out of Symphonious by Hennessy.

SS Two Sox
Now Available For Adoption!

SS Two Sox - 9 yr old, 16.1hh gelding
Adoption Fee: $200
Located: Laura, OH

Tall, dark, and handsome describes this classy gelding.  Sox raced 138 times over six years earning $152,325!  That translates into over 5,000 miles in harness and a whole lot of life experiences!  Sox has an old suspensory injury in his right front, but it’s long since healed and virtually unnoticeable after a relaxing year at his owner’s farm.  Sox’s groom enjoyed trail riding him this past summer, even taking him on a campout where he was tied to a hitching post overnight.  She started him in Parrelli and rode him in a Parelli halter.  She said Sox is extremely smart and loves all kinds of treats.

Haylie evaluated Sox and also rode him on trails.  She shares her insights, “Sox is a very well put together gelding with a nice disposition and handsome looks. He has GREAT manners under saddle and on the ground. He is super nice both in the arena and on the trails. Sox has ideal movement for Dressage. He moves out well at the walk and has a nice flashy extended trot.  Trotting is his preferred gait, and it’s unusually smooth.  He can also be collected into a rack.  I took Sox on a 3 hour trail ride in DEEP mud, and he handled it very well. He walked calmly through the mud without hassle in just a hackamore.”  This classy gelding is suitable for almost any discipline his adopter wishes to pursue.

Author and New Vocations supporter Jo Ann Heppermann, generously offers to pledge a portion of her book sales to New Vocations!

About the Book
Jo Ann and her husband, Ken, have owned and syndicated Thoroughbred race horses for eleven years. In Fact, two of the Thoroughbreds featured in her book, Stay Alert and Cape Town Bay, were both successfully rehomed through New Vocations.

Rose Colored Horses is a humorous look at the ups and downs of owning a race horse, told through the eyes of a woman who gave up her corporate legal career to seek adventure at the track. By the time we get done following JoAnn and her horses through her “year-in-the-life” story, you will know the business, the horses, and their owner — and you most likely will want to buy a race horse of your own.” – Jean Becker, Chief of Staff to President George H. W. Bush

Rose Colored Horses gives an unusual front-row view of the nitty gritty of the horse racing business, from dreams and celebrations, to broken bones and tough business decisions.  The author is an Every Woman, easy to understand and plain-spoken in her daily memoirs.” – David Tachau, Attorney, Tachau Meek PLC
