A Summer Getaway Right In Your Backyard

If a beach getaway or a mountain retreat is out of your reach, then there’s no reason to sulk inside. I’m a huge proponent of micro-vacations that fit snugly into your regular schedule. What is a micro-vacation? I’m glad you asked. I’m also glad we are telepathically linked and I can anticipate your questions like that. A micro-vacation, first cousin of the increasingly popular “staycation,” is essentially a day of relaxing and exploring a nearby city. Experience the food, culture, nightlife, etc. of another community without having to give up the comfort of sleeping in your own sheets.

Art Stroll Through Olde Town

Take a leisurely stroll through a showcase of gorgeous local artwork. This fundraising event serves as an artist networking tool, as well as a great opportunity for them to display their work to the public. Attendees have the opportunity to purchase pieces from the show. Artists include Orrin Morris, Jennifer Baker, Jay Domingo, Sheila Myers, Trish Bilich, Kay Rutledge, Odette Hart, and Tara Thieleke. A part of the proceeds from artwork sold will go to funding the Conyers-Rockdale Council for the Arts.

Celebrate America Concert

Get into the Fourth of July spirit a few days early. The Covington-Conyers Choral Guild will present a patriotic concert celebrating America this Friday night. Come out and enjoy a medley of classic songs performed by talented local singers. Sparklers not included.

Glimpse into the
Past & Future of Farming

The future of agriculture in Northeast Georgia and the nation may depend on the industry’s past. At least, that is what guests will learn on the upcoming Georgia Mountains Farm Tour this weekend.
Visitors may tour up to 14 local, sustainable farms in Rabun, Habersham, White and Stephens County. Some tour stops include community gardens, a honey bee farm, a working grist mill and fruit orchards, Guest may watch demonstrations of working farms as well as taste their produce.
