Maritime NZ is sponsoring a lifejacket video competition, promoted by Big Angry Fish on its popular fishing show on TV3, every Sunday till October 18, at 5-6pm.

Coastal Navigation Safety Review

Tracking for September release
The Coastal Navigation Safety Review report, being developed by Maritime NZ, is to be completed by September. The first phase of the project has been done – including an analysis of ship movements, a review of literature; an assessment of geographic and other factors compromising safety; and sector consultation.

MetService Marine App gets 80,000 downloads

Safer Boating Forum chair Lindsay Sturt and Maritime NZ education and communications manager Pania Shingleton celebrate 80,000 downloads of the MetService Marine App with cupcakes!

Developed in partnership with Maritime NZ, the App features marine weather forecasts, tides, and carries the “Get it on, or it’s no good” lifejacket safety messages. It was launched early last year.

Maritime technologies on agenda

A two-day Future-Ready Shipping 2015 conference in September is to be the first of its kind – and aims to increase the take-up of maritime technologies worldwide. Co-organised by the International Maritime Organisation and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, the event provides a dedicated forum where maritime leaders and professionals can review the latest technologies available for the improved energy efficiency of ships.
