We will kick off our year with an all fleet meeting on Thursday Jan 27 at 7pm at BYC.
We would like to have all people interested and involved with the sail fleet & racing programs to attend --that means: race committee members, mark boat drivers, regatta volunteers, fleet captains etc. Not just the racers. Members of the non-BYC fleets (High School sailing, WWU sailing, Thursday CYC, Thursday Scows) and neighboring YCs are also welcome and encouraged to attend.

News from the BYC Fleet Capt'n, Michele Bodtke
January is coming to a close and I can feel cruising season is right around the corner, not to mention racing which begins to appear on the calendar in February!!
It’s time to start getting into the boating frame of mind.
Our first official cruise of the year is coming February 19 and 20, with a cruise to Anacortes. We’ll be joining the members of the AYC at their clubhouse on Saturday – details are to be determined by cruise participants. So get your name on the list – contact Neil Bennett directly if you are interested at email@example.com.
This Thursday, 7:00 PM at the club, is the first meeting of the year for the racing fleet and all support personnel. If you race, crew, help with race committee, or are interested in helping with this year’s race season you should attend. Hope to see you there!
Mark your calendars: Super Bowl XLV is February 6th between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s also the annual chili cook-off at the club. Get creative with a new recipe or enter that old family favorite. Get your name on that silver ladle trophy!!
Hope to see you all for game day at the club! Michele Bodtke Fleet Captain

Announcing the Heart of Sailing Organizational Meeting, Feb. 4 at 5:30 pm
This June 25th will be a special day here at the Bellingham Yacht Club when we participate with the National Heart of Sailing Organization to introduce the nautical world to children with cognitive impairments.
Heart of Sailing teaches sailing to special needs children as a form of recreational therapy. The charity was founded in 2004 by George Saidah, a successful software entrepreneur who was motivated by his personal experience with a loved one with a cognitive disorder. A sailor for more than 40 years, Saidah dreamed of combining his love of the ocean with service to the community. Since retiring in 2005, Saidah devotes his time to developing Heart of Sailing to create a fun, educational and therapeutic opportunity for children with developmental disabilities.
Here at the Bellingham Yacht Club, Sarah Tario is coordinating our local efforts and would like to have an organizational meeting in order to prepare for this years event.
If you would like to help organize, participate in, or find out more about this event, please plan on attending the organizational meeting that will be February 4th at 5:30 pm at the BYC.
For more information, please contact Sarah Tario, Cell 739-0090 firstname.lastname@example.org.
