New Door Locks and Safety Exits are a-coming! Soon the doors on the SE side of the building will have new digital keypads, and panic bars are being installed in the downstairs hallway to facilitate a safe Ward Room exit if necessary. Authorized code-holders will be advised of their new procedures. Joe Coons is coordinating.

Steve Kersey reports that over 100 registrations for Junior Sailing have been received! Some classes are sold-out, several more may close to new registration this week. If you want someone to take BYC classes this summer, register ASAP! Go to Youth Sailing for details. The schedule is here. Meanwhile, youth boat maintenance is being finished by Craig Henderson and Katie Stackpole. Mike Allsop donated indoor space for the job. Thanks, Mike!
Phase One of the new junior dock construction was completed by Wayne Kelsoe and Craig Henderson (the docks were used by Kayakers in Ski to Sea). Phase two will involve building and installing dock boxes, boat storage cradles, etc. Deadline: late June. We need help: Call Steve Kersey, 671-7275 or email email@example.com.
We have new Window Coverings in the Commodores and Lower Lounges to protect the carpet and chair upholstery from sun damage; please see that they are drawn at the end of each Club use. Thanks! They were selected by Missy Steffen, Maya Allsop and Jane Sylvester. Good job!
A New Club Dining Service is Starting Next Week. Hitchhiking on the success of Wednesday night casual dining, Windows on the Bay will be offering appetizers and a choice of dinners on the 2nd and 4th Fridays on a trial basis. Full story next week.
We ran the Jr. Ski to Sea regatta in May, with a good turn. Many BYC members helped including Terry Tavelli, Teresa Werner, Joe and Margie Orem, Gerri Rea Kersey, and Gary Baker.
It’s Never Simple, is it? The Security folks released an advisory for boaters going into Canada; but within a week it was gone. Bottom line: stop by the B’ham airport customs office and be sure you have what you need! Nexus pass is best…
