P NO MORE 2x4!  We’ve been working on the upgrade of the Club’s locks and doors, and the project is nearing completion.  A new door for the Club’s lower floor has been installed; it includes a panic bar for emergency exit and an electric lock. Soon authorized Club Members will have their own codes for entry.  Another feature of this door’s panic bar is the ability to keep it unlocked for events; instructions are on the door’s inner side.

P YOUTH SAILING IS OFF TO A GREAT START, and thanks to some great volunteers for maintaining the boats, finishing the new dock, and cleaning up the Clubhouse youth area.  The details are here.

P POLICY CHANGE FOR CLUB USAGE:  With the success of our remodel, our Club is now a very popular place for members wanting to hold private functions.  Also, some of the verbiage in our policies has become out-dated and needed to be re-written.  The new verbiage – as voted on by your Board – can be found by linking off to the BYC website.  Specifically, Section XI: USE OF CLUB ROOMS, Paragraphs B.7; E; and F are affected.  In addition, a new pricing structure has been introduced – effective 1 August 2010.  All the specifics are included on the website, but here’s the bottom line:

Upstairs: Members can reserve the upstairs for personal or commercial use, once per quarter, for $100 during non-staffed hours.  Functions occurring during normal staffed hours cannot be private and must be open to all members.

Downstairs:  Members can use the Ward Room free of charge when the use is for a personal function.  Members using the Ward Room for a commercial use will be charged $100 per use.

Information on how to reserve a room, how the liquor laws apply to your function, etc. will come in the next issue.  In the meantime, please contact Commodore Pete (, myself ( or Lounge Manager Troy ( with any questions.  --- Michele Bennett, Vice Commodore

P WELCOME BACK!  Dennis and Julie Fox are back in our Club as Active Members.  They were missed!  The Foxes have cruised extensively here and in the South American environs. Sea Fox is a 58’ Krogen Trawler.

P CONGRATS TO CHAPLAIN KEVIN!  Fr. Kevin Allen has just been elected a Bishop of trhge Diocese of Cascadia.  Does that mean our boats are better blessed?
