Speak up and be heard!
Our 2nd ever Town Hall meeting will be held on Friday evening at 6pm.  I’ll give you a quick overview of how the Club is doing and a few projects that we have on the horizon… but mostly this is an opportunity for YOU to tell the Board what’s on your mind.  What do you like?  What don’t you like?  Do you have some ideas for new programs?  Have you heard of a speaker that you’d like to have come and do a talk?  This is a great time to share those ideas and I look forward to seeing you on Friday.
PacRim 2012 – Port Stephens, Australia
The PacRim Regatta is a joint venture between the Sister Cities organization of Bellingham, and the Bellingham Yacht Club.  For those of you unfamiliar with the details, the regatta is hosted every 2 years and the venue rotates between the various Pac Rim sister cities.  In March of 2012, Port Stephens, Australia will be the host and the Mayor of Bellingham has appointed our very own PC Karen Callery to be Bellingham’s ambassador to Port Stephens.  Karen has stepped forward to be the BYC point person for this huge task and she will be sending out notices soon to ask for persons to help on this committee.  We are still a year out, but it’s not too early to start thinking about how you may want to be involved.
Cruising to Anacortes!
This Saturday and Sunday will be the first official cruise of the year – a shakedown cruise to the Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes.  The Anacortes Yacht Club will be opening up their clubhouse for us and the BBQ will be ready for some serious grilling.  Please join Neil and I – whether by land or by sea – for a fun-filled weekend.

At your service,

The BYC Roster/Yearbook went to press on Valentine’s Day, and should be in the mail around February 21 to Members.  Perennial Roster Editor Joe Coons says it’s a little bigger than last year, mostly because of new Photo Pages that have pictures of many Members and some of our Members’ boats.  Joe even took a risk by selecting a Member photo, a sailboat photo, and a powerboat photo and calling them the “Photos of the Year”.  Fortunately, he may be out of town when Members get their copies, so calls for the Board to “Impeachment the Roster Editor” will be unheard, at least by him!
This year exactly 300 copies will be mailed; another reserve of copies are saved each year to give to newly-joining Members.
If you get the Roster, but have no binder for it, contact editor Joe at or Membership Secretary Marian Welch at, or see Joe or Marian or Michele Bodke at any Club event, and they can get one for you.

Remember to submit your articles to  Deadline is Monday noon.
