MEMBER NEWS

Education Corner - Join us this this Wed March 4, 7pm, when BYC member Ward Naviaux and his pal Andy Schwenk will regale us with tales of their "Awesome Adventure" competing in last year's Pacific Cup Regatta from San Francisco to Hawaii. You can expect this presentation to be entertaining as well as informative. And if that isn't enough reason to come down to the club, Commodore Jonathan has arranged for Corn Dogs on the menu at the bar especially for this event!

See their flyer here.
Then mark your calendars for Wed Mar 18 to hear "Radar: Collision Avoidance and Navigation", a presentation that should be of interest to all boaters. More details in next week's JibSheet.

Pink Boat Regatta is looking for a few great volunteers to help organize and run the 2015 regatta in September.  This is a great way to assist in a great cause with really fun people.  Contact Neil Bennett or Jim Gibson.

Our Member, Mark Barnett, is looking for a sailboat ownership partner. Here are the details on his quest...

CRUISING NEWS

"It's all about cruising!" March 6

Come for the Friday at 5 on March 6 and stick around for dinner served up by your cruising committee.  We're serving delicious rotisserie chicken and pasta followed by dessert.  After dinner, we'll tell you all about the great cruising destinations we have planned and also share our new improved website with you.

Inati Bay Raft Up and Progressive Dinner March 14 and 15

Registration is now open for our first cruise of the season to Inati Bay on March 14 and 15.  We are planning to raft up in beautiful Inati Bay and have a potluck-style progressive dinner on Saturday night with an Irish theme.  The progressive dinner will include appetizers, dinner and dessert with each being served on a different boat.  Then on Sunday morning, breakfast will be served... but we need co-hosts!
We need 3 boats for the progressive dinner (appetizers, dinner, and dessert) and 1 boat to host breakfast the next morning.  All of the breakfast items will be provided so you just need to cook them up and serve.  If you'd like, you can invite some of the other cruise guests to help you cook on your boat.  Jim and Angie have already volunteered Jumanji so we need 3 more boats.  Everything will be potluck, so there's not much work involved and it should be a lot of fun!

If you would like to volunteer your boat and help co-host this event, please let us know.  We would really appreciate it!

If the weather doesn't cooperate, plan B is to have the event at the guest dock at the marina instead.

New this year, you can register on the website and you'll be able to see who has already registered as well.  Here's the link:   http://cruising.byc.org/2015-byc-cruise-registration-forms/

As always, you can go to the cruising website at http://cruising.byc.org/ for a complete cruising calendar and details on each cruise.  Get them on your calendar now so you don't miss out on the fun!

Flotilla heading north in June

We are continuing our planning for a group flotilla in June to take advantage of the long summer days. We are working to firm up our itinerary with 4 boats planning to participate. Right now we expect to leave Bellingham on June 10, we hope to get as far north as Octopus Island, we will travel at sailboat speeds, and we expect to return by about July 4. If you would like to join us, if you plan to be up that way and would like to "stop by" for a day or two, or if you just want to check out our itinerary, you can contact Dean Altschuler (altschulercpa@aol.com) or Marian Welsh (mimawelsh@gmail.com) for more information.

Last week's photograph was taken off Waikiki Beach, Honolulu. Terry Tavelli, Donna Olsen, Meredith Ross, Jim Gibson, and David New all correctly identified the location.

This week we see a setting that appears to be in the old world. If you know the location, send your answer to drsteveross@gmail.com.

Jib Sheet Editor this week is PC Michele Bennett.
