I hope that everyone had a great 4th of July and extended weekend.  The weather was perfect for boating and firework shows.   A flotilla of BYC boats headed over for a delightful weekend at Garrison Bay 4th of July Cruise on San Juan Island, while many members watched the Bellingham Bay fireworks from their boat and from the clubhouse deck.
Thanks to all those who came out for W.O.W. Regatta Fridays @ 5 last week and were treated to a special Sockeye Salmon BBQ provided by the club and the W.O.W. Committee.   Next Fri@5 on July 17th will be a Koren BBQ sponsored by Tana Chung and Murray Hill!  This is another reminder that any member who wants to host a Fri@5, the club will pay $150 towards food costs for a main potluck dish (Typically serves 50-75 people)
More on the W.O.W. Regatta this Saturday… there is a lot of interest, however it looks like we’re short a few boats.  If you’re able to offer your sailboat for this event to get women sailing contact W.O.W. Chair Kathy Holland 360-201-2011 or, or visit the website.
This Friday is the ever popular “BYC Steak Night” hosted by BYC members for BYC members.  Filet Mignon Steak, Baked Potato and Salad for $15.  We’re trying to keep Steak Night’s going year round, but we need your help. Please contact Bar Manager Steve Hayward to volunteer.
Well my term as Commodore is starting to wind down with just under 3 months left.    I’ll be working closely with Vice Commodore Mick Corcoran over these last few months to transition my duties over to him.  Although this job has been a lot of work and time, I’ve enjoyed it as well as appreciated all of the positive feedback.   One of my official last duties is the formation of the BYC Elections Committee that will search for the next BYC Trustees.  I would really urge all members to consider running as a Trustee.  It does take some commitment, but the rewards are well worth it.  There are 12 meetings a year and typically heading up some committee.
That’s it for now...  Have a great week.
Cheers, Commodore Jonathan
This Week's Photo Contest

Last week's photo was taken from a cruise ship at the Port of Miami. Lisa McArdle, Quinn Selsor, Jack Black, Michele Bennett, and Terry Tavelli identified the location while Gayle Ackerly was close.

This week we see a very large rock. If you know the location, send your answer to

Jib Sheet Editor this week is Michele Bennett
