Tom and Jerry Party!
November 26
The annual kick-off to the holidays is coming up this Wednesday.  This long-standing Club tradition is hosted by your Bridge and Trustees.  Complimentary 'Tom and Jerry' libations will be served up by "Tom" and "Gerri" and the Club is also providing some tasty appetizers.  This is one of only two 'members only' events the entire year, so if you haven't yet renewed for the 2014/2015 year, this is a great time to do it!
BYC coffee cups are M.I.A. and are needed for Wednesday's Tom and Jerry Party!  Please contact if you happen to remember seeing them at the latest Club Scrub!

Looking for gift ideas during this holiday season? The BYC cookbook, The Gourmet Galley is a great stocking-stuffer gift for friends and family. Why not pick up a few from the club to put a smile on the faces of your loved ones? -- Alex Marr

This past Friday@5 was a special occasion with the Allsop, Bornstein and Hodge families providing and cooking some of the largest salmon fillets I have ever seen in person. The food was delicious and the crowd impressive. I'm not sure how many plates were served but the stack of 200 dishes were about gone. The price of the meal was a deal and all the funds went to youth sailings efforts to revitalize their fleet of dinghies. Thank you so much to all those that attended, helped prepare, serve and clean up. It was a great evening and thank you for the donation to the youth fleet.
Also on the menu was the auction of a cute Goldendoodle puppy that was introduced to the club that evening and auctioned online over the weekend. Puppy (still looking for names) was won by me, so we now have a Youth Fleet Mascot to see our kids off at the dock. Teresa Werner instigated the donation from Starview Kennels and another $1250.00 is going towards the youth fleet, it'll look like an Olympic Training Center around here soon!
Good times!!  -- Trustee Mike Powell
Hoist up the Christmas Lights and join BYC Cruise Fleet chairs, Angie Santosuosso & Vickie Olsen for the 2014 Bellingham Bay Lighted Boat Parade on Saturday December 6.  Boats away from Squalicum Harbor at 1730 hrs and rendezvous at the Fairhaven Cruise Terminal at 1800 hrs for the parade start.
You don't want to miss this BYC Traditional Event... It's Always fun and Festive!!
Check the web site for registration and detailed information.

Friday's salmon dinner fundraiser for the Youth Fleet was a huge success.  Special thanks to Chefs Allsop, Bornstein, and Hodge for the salmon, beans, and bread - and to Katy Day for her world famous Caesar salad.  The dinner put $3000 into the Youth-Boat-Buying-Account (including $1250 from the auction of the Goldendoodle puppy).
Next up is the long-standing BYC tradition of the Tom and Jerry Party this Wednesday night.  My fellow officers and Trustees are your hosts as we kick off the holidays.  Don't forget, this is a member's only event, so if you haven't paid your dues yet, now is the time!
Finally, once you've all recovered from the turkey and football coma, it's time to dig out those boxes of lights and decorate your boat for the Lighted Boat Parade!
Wishing all of you a very happy Thanksgiving!  --Commodore Jon Knowles
The Port de Plaisance on the Canal du Midi at Castelnaudary, France, was the subject of last week's picture. Meredith Ross recognized the scene, while Quinn Selsor named a nearby location.
This week we see an array of colorful umbrellas lining the bank of a canal. If you know the location, send your answer to
