TIE ONE ON AT THE BYC:
Can you tie the knots required to earn your next glass of wine??? A "Tie One On" Wine Tasting and Knot Tying event is planned for Friday, January 27th at the BYC Lounge.
Come learn some new knots and or help newbies improve their knot tying skills. There will be a showdown for the best knot tying, most improved knot tying, etc. with Sampson Rope as prizes

A bartender licensing class has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 7th at 6 PM
at the BYC Lounge. Vickie Webb will be our trainer and she will be charging $40.00 per attendee and prefers cash to checks and payment is due at the time of the class. Anyone who is interested in attending this class should contact Trudy Kelsoe

. Those who have expressed an interest in the class will be contacted. Those of you whose license will be expiring will be notified in January so you will have time to plan to take the class and renew your license for 5 more years.

NEW SUMMER RACING PROGRAM...
A new BYC Race Program will be starting up in 2012 on every other Friday Night during the summer months (5 races). The Bellingham Yacht Club Summer Solstice Series Race
is interned to put Fun back into Sailboat Racing. It will be a non-competitive venue with opportunities to learn more about sailboat racing and enjoy a nice summer evenings on Bellingham Bay with friends, family, members and guests. There will be awards for finish place, but also creativity, boating spirit, customs, singles division, etc.
We are looking for spirited, creative and fun members to help plan this on and off the water events. Committee Members will define the overall event structure, determine the theme of each race, define awards categories, and help coordinate on the water and shore side social activities.

IMPORTANT SAIL FLEET MEETING IN 15 DAYS!
BYC Sail Fleet Meeting is now set for Wednesday January 25th @ 6PM BYC Clubhouse. The date was changed to accommodate the Italian Dinner event (above).
We have officially passed into the New Year and it’s time again to start thinking about ordering new sails, dusting off the rules book and finding time to start those overdue winter boat projects. The 2012 BYC Sailing Fleet Racing Program will be in full speed sooner that you expect starting with Wednesday Night Racing Series on first week of April, with a record turnout.
The BYC Bar will be open with Tim Mumford and Jim Langei
firing up the grill for $5 Sailor Burger & Microbrew special. We will review the 2012 Racing Schedule & Sailing Instruction, but more importantly, it’s social meeting event to get planned and get excited about the new racing season. --- Fleet Captain Jonathan Knowles
NEW BYC COOKBOOK PROJECT
edition of the BYC Cookbook has been out of print for some time. It is quite apparent that we have a large talent group of excellent cooks judging by the gourmet servings at F@F and other club functions. Alex Marr
is starting a new BYC Cookbook Project with a core project group currently consisting of Angie Santosuoso, Bob Kehoe, Cheryl Myers, Jody Erickson, and John and Teresa Van Haalen

. The project group also encourages ALL members to submit their favourite recipe(s).
