The Annual, Traditional Boat Show Bus Trip is Coming!
It’s time to get your Boat Show Bus reservations in: Great Fun! The date is Saturday, January 22 leaving at 830 AM sharp from the club, and the return leaves the show at 5:30. The cost is $45 per person and includes both the in-the-water and inside shows (you can do both or either, as long as you like during the day). Food and drink is provided both on the way down and the way back, and the big, luxurious eliminates the parking and driving hassle, and if the weather’s bad, the driver deals with it. Besides, you can have fun meeting new BYC friends!
You must sign up and pay at the bar! For questions, Jody Erickson can be contacted at email@example.com and her phone is (360) 223-2119. Matt Dennis is co-chair. Remember, you must be added to the list and pay at the bar. Special thanks to San Juan Sailing for sponsoring the show tickets!
Seahawks vs. Bears NLF Playoff Game Sunday @ The BYC
There was the great turn out at the BYC last Saturday for what now might be considered one of the most exciting Seahawks games of all time, beating the Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints 41 to 36. The new bar prices were in effect and nearly a box (40) of Free Polish Sausages were handed out. Terry Tavelli was your Volunteer bar man and his brother, Mark (and who is also a new BYC Member), was the grill master who also cooked up some amazing Bacon Wrapped Grilled Jalapenos poppers.
Since this was such a great success (and because I have another box of Polish Sausages left over in the freezer), the bar will be open next Sunday, January 16th at 9:30 AM for the Seahawks attempt to get one step closer to another super bowl appearance. The Seahawks will be facing the 11-5 Chicago Bears at Soldier Field with kick off at 10 AM (BTW- one of the 5 loses was against the Seahawks back on Oct 17th in Chitown!!). The bar will be serving a Bloody Mary Special for $2.75 and free Starbucks Coffee and Tazo Tea, if it’s a bit too early to start in. Please bring a bag of chips, pretzels or donuts to share.
We are looking for volunteers to run the bar for the reaming NFL Playoff Games this Saturday and Sunday, and for the following Sunday NFC/AFC Championships Games (Jan 23rd). The finality of the NFL Season ends with “Superbowl XLV & BYC Annual Chili Cook-Off” on Sunday February 6th … so start working on those Chili Recipes and plan to be at the BYC for the “Big Game”. If you can help with running the bar during any of the playoff games below, please contact John Van Haalen (firstname.lastname@example.org)
1:00 PM - 5:00 PM: AFC Divisional Game - Ravens vs. Steelers
5:00 PM - 8:30 PM: NFC Divisional Game - Packer vs. Falcons <<< BAR COVERED
930 AM - 1:00 PM: NFC Divisional Game –Seahawks vs. Bears. <<< MOST HIGH PRIORITY

1/8 at the Club
A GREAT PARTY FOR A GREAT GAME!
There were around 30 or 35 Members and guests at the BYC on Saturday afternoon, January 10 at the Club for that wonderful, amazing Seahawks game. Terry Tavelli tended bar while his brother, Mark, did the cooking, and all the folks enjoyed delicious brats of steamed buns with chips, nut, and other goodies to make the afternoon traditional fun for all. What a blast!
For entertainment, we had that great game on those big BYC TV’s. But we also had an ongoing commentary from folks we thought were just boaters...but who turned out to be better coaches and officials than those on the field! We were reporters, too, as Hilltop Catering folks (who were preparing for a wedding reception) kept coming in and asking, “What is the score now?” We all were grinning as we gave those 3rd and 4th quarter results! Good snacks and food, draft beer, good friends, a shared interest, and an amazing upset. What could be more fun that that on a Saturday afternoon? Thank you, Terry, Mark and anyone else who worked on it for making this fun event happen. --- Joe Coons
Jamie Foti recognized for her handiwork on the Shyanne Quilt
Jamie Foti who, also, donated her time and handiwork to the quilt made for Shyanne, the recipient of the 2010 Sink the Dinghy Campaign, name was inadvertently omitted by last week's editor (that would me--Kathy) as one of the volunteers who worked on the project.
Thank you, Jamie, for all the behind the scenes work that you do to support the BYC and its endeavors!
ROSTER PHOTOS PREVIEW
Thanks for all the great photos for the Jib Sheet so far! I have edited the approximately 46 Member pictures that came in, and you can see the way the look here. These aren’t in any order yet, and I still have to add member names.
It turns out we still have time to add more pictures to the pages, so I’ll accept pictures up to January 10 at the email address below!
Note also that I’m cropping your pictures so they are square, so the tighter partners are together, the better the shot looks. One or two are fuzzy; that’s because I got very small files (probably “thumbnails”) that start to break up when they are printed even only this large, only about 2.3 x 2.3 inches; be sure you send me the original picture! I can “pick out” a tight shot of you from a larger picture...look at the two pictures on the first page where I showed Gary and Mary Baker’s submission and what I got out of it! If your picture is here, but you have a better shot, email me the better one at email@example.com. --- Joe Coons
Remember to submit your articles to Jibsheet@byc.org Deadline is Monday noon.
Fair Winds and Following Seas from your JibSheet editors: Kathy Brown, Joe Coons, and Jim Langei.
