WED: 18 Feb: Soup Kitchen; THURS: 19 Feb: Monica's Mexican;  FRI: 20 Feb: Friday @ 5 and Labadie's 50th Wedding Anniversary!!;  SAT: 21 Feb: Bar and Lounge Open
Wednesday from 7-9pm, Joe Coons, Terry Tavelli, and Paulette Bergh are staging a "Checklist Bonanza" in the Ward Room. Every attendee will get to explore over 50 pages of checklists gathered from over a dozen experienced boaters and marine organizations covering everything from Alaska Cruising to Zincs*. Even better, attendees who bring a USB thumb drive/memory stick can get WORD copies of all the lists so they can edit them to fit their own boat. Go to BYC.ORG to sign up: the modest, deductible entrance fees all go to the Sailing Foundation. $10 single/$15 couples in advance, $15/$25 at the door. See you there! *Read here for all the info!
The Roster will be out soon... BUT, to keep costs low, the Club has moved the photos to the BYC.ORG web site, and not in the book.  (printing them added over $2,000 to our printing costs, almost $15 per picture...)
You can see anyone's personal or boat pictures just by looking them up in the on-line Roster, and you can add your pictures by emailing them to Roster@BYC.ORG.

FRI: Don’t miss this week’s Fri @ 5 event! Bring a dish to share and help Dick and Sandy Labadie celebrate 50 years of matrimonial bliss!

SAT: Wrap up the week with a visit to the lounge to visit with friends over a libation or two!

See you in the lounge! --Steve

BYC racers travelled to Orcas Island for the usually chilly "Shaw Island Winter Classic". Congratulations to Jim Johannessen and his crew as they get "Bird of Prey" dialed in for the racing season. They took third place in their division and were only 12 seconds away from taking second place. Mick Corcoran's Blackfoot crewed with BYC regulars came in 3rd place in their division as the black sheep amid 7 Santa Cruz 27's. They blended in so well, rumor has it they were awarded an additional trophy as a Santa Cruz too.

The weather was one for the record books and was a great way to kick off the 2015 racing season!

-Bart Maupin, Sail Fleet Captain

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 4th - 7 to 9pm to hear our own Ward Naviaux and everybody's favorite rigger, Andy Schwenk, share their tales of Pacific Cup 2014.  It's a night you won't want to miss!

Youth Sailing News
Tuesday's in February, the High School Sailing Team will be hosting rules talks 6p - 8p in the BYC Ward Room.  These talks are free and open to absolutely everyone from all fleets, Etchells, Laser, 505, WWU Sailing Team, Tasars, PHRF and anyone else.  The goal is to cover the racing rules, specifically those of Part 2 - When Boats Meet.  We will focus on one or two rules per week, the basics of that rule, special situations for the rule, and how you can apply this rule tactically.
-Scott Wilson - BYC Youth Racing Director

Mark Your Calendars!!

Inati Bay Raft Up and Progressive Dinner
March 14 and 15

Registration is open for our first season cruise to Inati Bay on March 14-15. We are planning to raft up and have a potluck-style progressive dinner on Saturday night with a St. Patrick's Day Irish theme, including appetizers, dinner and dessert, each being served on a different boat. Sunday morning, breakfast will be served. If you can help with this event, or volunteer your boat to host part of the progressive dinner please let us know.

Commodore Jon took the day to go skiing with his kids.  Can't fault a man for that!  Hope you enjoyed a few good turns Commodore!
This Week's Photo Contest
Last week's photograph was taken from the Torre Escenica in Cancún, Mexico. The revolving observation tower takes you 80 meters in the air for a view of the city, hotel zone, and out to sea. No one correctly identified the location, although Joe Warren-LaCasella named a similar view in the U.S.
This week we see a dock and what appear to be rental boats waiting for skippers. If you know the location, send your answer to
Jib Sheet Editor this week is PC Michele Bennett.
